The New Testament is the fulfillment of all the Old testament prophecies.
The OT predicts the coming of Christ....in the NT, Jesus comes and fulfills all.

1. The Doctrine of the Trinity affirms the oneness of God. 2. The sabbath activities that Jesus affirms were not part of the original commandment. The idea that one couldn't pick a head of grain and eat it while walking through a field was a man-made law. 3. The short version of the story is that role that the prohibition on eating certain animals played in redemptive history no longer applied. Nevertheless, the underlying principle of the commandment remains. 4. There is an already and not yet aspect to the coming of the Messiah. Certain things were fulfilled at his first coming and other things will be fulfilled when he returns. 5. Your statement about Gentiles being saved in the OT and Jesus' comments on salvation in the NT is fallacious - equivocation of the concept "saved." 6. Christianity doesn't consider celibacy to be preferable. The bottom line is that if you approach the text looking for contradictions, you will find them. However, if you give the biblical authors the benefit that they knew what they were talking about, then it is usually not too difficult to understand. Of course, if you have an axe to grind, you're not going to approach the text with an open mind anyway.

Part of the OT is about the twelve tribes of Israel, (existing as slaves making bricks for an Egyptian king), finally leaving slavery to form their own country (can't blame them for that, even Quebec wants to do that).
There certainly was some struggle as the new nation had to defend itself from those who would take their property back.
This is a struggle between politicians. Not religion. That's where the war and sacrifice fit in. There is the conundrum, if you want a peaceful nation, sometimes you have to fight for it.
Hebrews chapters 9 and 10 outline how the New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament.
If you read and study it enough, it all makes sense.

There is no contradiction.
The Old Testament, the law, was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ.
It is all pictures and shadows and types pointing to and showing the Messiah to come.
The New Testament show the fulfiling of the old testament promises.
If you will read it with that thought in mind you will find that there are no contradictions. Of course it would help if you have been saved. I am not saying you haven't been, the last was for those who don't know the Lord. Without the indwelling spirit to guide it is very difficult to understand even the most simple concepts in the Bible.
The Old Testament was written during the formative years of a nation.
Thje writings of the new only compass a few years, realitively speaking. Read church histories and you will find that a lot of folks have been killed in the last two thousand years for their beliefs.

No, they compliment each other. The new testament is the fullfillment and purpose of the old testament. The new testament brings the war and sacrifice to the spiritual level. The enemy is finally defeated through the sacrifice at the cross.
Just because two things are different doesn't mean they contradict each other. Does black contradict white? No! They exist independantly and side by side. Yet they share some comonality in that they exist because of light. (one is the perfect blend of all colors of light, while the other is the total absence of light)

the old testament is about God choosing a nation and sanctifying them. Unfortunately the Israelites disobeyed God repeatedly so he had to punish them for going against the laws he had set for them that were there to help prosper them not harm them. The new testament is about God making it so people wouldnt have to live by the law anymore but by grace.

>Don't the old and new testaments contradict each other?
They DON'T.
The O.T. tells of the Old Covenant, basically between God and Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The N.T. tells of the New Covenant.
The O.T. basically tells of God's dealings with a Nation of people.
The N.T. basically tells of God calling out a people of all nations.
No, they do NOT contradict each other; rather, they are telling of different dealings which God has and has had with different peoples.

Evil reigned on earth throughout the old testament.
God reigns in the new testament, with evil relegated to fugitive status, soon to be destroyed entirely.
