Although hundreds of thousands went to early graves because of smoking ( or second-hand smoke ) , I find it amazing to hear smokers say things like " the cake made me sick" ; "bananas make me sick"..and so on . Just once I'd like them to fess up and say, " these disgusting toxic carginogens are causing all my organs to rot "!

It's not just about addiction . Most addictions only hurt the addicted one . Many who never smoked a day in their lives are severely affected by second hand smoke ; yet smokers feel it's their "right" to harm others . If I eat KFC ( which I can't stand ) I'm not shortening anyone else's life but my own .

Theyre addicted...so theyre not about to blame the one thing they are addicted to...its frustrating to have to listen to them deny the fact that smoking is bad for them...or to think "oh that wont happen to me...i wont get sick.." its just how humans are...no matter what the situation at times we all try to blame something else or to twist things around to make ourselves feel better that what im doing isnt wrong something else is causing my sickness ect...

"These disgusting toxic carginogens are causing all my organs to rot."
There, I said it. Yes, I am a smoker (I'm smoking as I type this) and while I'm not proud I do know what it is doing to me.
The way I see it is if it's not the smoke that kills me it will be something else. In this day and age even the healthiest of people are getting some form of cancer. The media tells us not to eat fast food (chicken) 'cause it has cancer causing chemicals. Does that stop us from enjoying a bucket of KFC? Do we refrain from ever feeling the warmth of the suns rays? 'Cause y'know, too much sun causes skin cancer. You just never know what disease you're gonna get from that banana!
There are health risks all around us. I'm just taking a more direct approach. But hey, I'm living my life day by day, not years in advance. We could all die tomorrow.
Edited to add: What gets me is us smokers go to our designated areas outside and the non-smokers join us and then complain about the smoke! When we could smoke indoors at work and had a room of our own (the non-smokers also had a place of their own) they would still come sit in our room and then criticize us for smoking.
We do not intentionally seek out the non-smokers to infect them with disease. They find us all on their own.

Backin the day peopel didn't care one way or another....there were laws on the books..but they were never enforced....when I was in high school we had a smoking area. People now are suing saying that they didn't know.....the warnings were on the labels...but the labels had one warning basically...smoking is bad for you.
It was never pounded into the heads of todays youth as it is now.
All these taxes they put on us smokers are nothing more than a way to make money because they know people hate smoking.....and to pay companies to make meaninglesss commercials.
Why hasn't any of the tax money gone to us smokers who want to quit.....it's cheaper to keep smoking as far as the cost to quit.
I've quit (or tried) 3 times...the longest was 90days (jail).
I'm 43 and have not had any health problems...yet...there have been freinds of mine who seemed to be the healthiest people alive....and yet they keeled over dead, never woke up from sleep or were killed in an accident.
My fathers side of the family...al non smokers...non lived past 70....an my mothers side....almost all smokers....all seemed to live to the 80' and 90's......and since my mom don't smoke....I expect her to live into the 100s'.
All this anti smoking started to come up in the mid 80's..and has blossomed to hatred.....smokers are more hated than child molesters it seems.

I smoke. And I see your point.
However,
No one cares about us smokers or else there would be better treatments and action taken. It's a serious and strong addiction but considering the health risks and costs involved there are very few options a smoker has to quit. Heroin and alcohol addicts have better options. Hell, fricken enormous fat people have better options.
As someone said, non-smokers can STFU until they actually do something that shows they care.
Peace

Yes, they do, as do so many of us with whatever vice we can't seem to give up....for me, it's not wanting to admit that the fattening food I eat will probably give me heart disease. For some, it's not wanting to admit their addiction to spending is going to bankrupt them. For some, it's not wanting to admit that their alcohol is going to give them cirrhosis of the liver. For some, it's not wanting to admit that their workaholic personality will give them ulcers. Everybody has something that they know they do that isn't good for them. But we are all here to enjoy life and to love each other. I think the reason people are so hard on smokers is because to a very small degree, the smell, or secondhand smoke can interfere with others' desire to enjoy their own pursuit of ruining their own bodies.

I agree 100%. I was actually talking to my mom (who is a smoker) about that exact same thing a few days ago!I think it's denile, like if they don't admit that it causes cancer, somehow it won't affect them? doesn't make a whole lot of sence though, considering the evidence against smoking.

They know and they do not care. Tobacco is more addicting than heroin. No, I do not smoke because I do not like smelling like a burnt tree and don't want blackened lungs.
Don't judge someone less you be judged. Do you over eat? Do you drink too much? Do you use street drugs or prescription drugs to excess?
Humans are not always smart. But you should remember each adult has the right to treat their body as they please.

As a former smoker, and one who lost his dad and two uncles to cigarettes, I just wish non-smokers would STFU.
