some really can take the pain and other can not even take a pinch. It all depends on how pain tolerate you can be. I would imagine it does hurt.

I have a lip piercing and it was just like getting an injection.Maybe your piercer didn't give you anything to numb your lip.Maybe he used a dirty rusty needle because really it doesn't hurt. It's just one needle at 1 moment in time. It's not like a tattoo which can be a number or needles, pricking you every second.Maybe It hurt because you weren't sure about getting it done. You wanted it to make you look cool and some1 said it didn't hurt? You lip isn't really that sensitive, there's not that many nerve endings in it say compared to your tongue which would have thousands.People don't lie. Some times it hurts some times it doesn't.Get over it and get some grind core piercings.

Some people have different pain thresholds... I know people that get a papercut and cry, and I had a friend that fractured his collar bone and didn't know till weeks after.. also pain diminishes in time.. I had my nipple peirced 6 years ago when I was 18 and I know that it did hurt, but I really can't remember how much?? also if you are regulary experiencing pain..your body can and does become accustomed to it.. I have been doing martial arts for 2 years and can definately take relitively hard punches without flinching, compared to when I first started... so maybe you just need to build up you pain tolerance..

I think you may have misunderstood. It's obvious you are not going to feel pain the same as someone else. So when you ask "does it hurt" and they say no, they mean it didn't hurt them (or didn't hurt as much as they thought). That doesn't mean it's not going to hurt you.
I have had people ask about my labret and monroe and which one hurt the most (monroe). That is MY experience, it's not going to be the same for everyone.
Every piercing hurts to some extent. You said it yourself, it's a needle going through your skin. What would ever make you think it wouldn't hurt?

Well, everyone has a different tolerance for pain. I thought mine didn't hurt that bad, however in your case it did hurt. People can only speak for themselves about the pain they can handle and some people lie so they can look tough.
My advice: never ask how bad anything will hurt. Piercings and tattoos are something everyone feels differently.

I have my lip pierced. Ive had it for about a month, its fresh. Mine honestly did not hurt. Everyones pain index is different. It also depends on how good the piercer is at his job. I was told it didnt hurt and it didnt. Like I said it depends on how sensitive you are. I know some people take IBprofen before and after their piercings because they are so sensitive.

That reminds me of when I got my belly button done...everyone who had it done said it didn't hurt. So, imagine my surprise when I did get it done...all I could think when that needle was passing through my flesh was "Ouch!" I figured they must have been lying, or I must've been a wimp. But, I've had many piercings since then, and a lot of them (e.g. tragus, cartilage, nose) seriously did not hurt me to get them done. What it all comes down to is how sensitive certain areas are on YOUR body...so something that might hurt someone else might not you. It has nothing to do with lying or being a wimp...it's just that everyone's different.

LOL .... really i don't think ppl lie about it, its all about their tolerence to pain, my 15 yr old son pierced his own lip and he said it didn't hurt and the same night he stretched it out from the size of a regular earring hole to a 14 gauge, and he didn't even flinch. Its like tattoos and childbirth, each persons pain tolerance is different.

I am honest when people ask me if something hurts. I have 7 tattoos and I am completely honest at which ones hurt, which ones didn't, or where they hurt at. I am the same way with piercings too. My belly didn't hurt at all, my ears didn't, but my nipples hurt like hell!! I couldn't wear a bra for a couple of weeks!

Have you had a lip piercing? If not, you really have no right to say.
Your lip isn't half as sensitive as you think it is. And I have a lip piercing and in reality it really didn't hurt that much at all.

Some people might do it to seem tough. It will most likely always hurt to get anything pierced, but pain doesn't phase some people. I, for example, can tolerate it very well, and enjoy it to an extent.
