I would mind my own business if I saw it at my friends house. I would say nothing to her unless she brought it up and I actually would be glad she's getting some help. I wouldn't worry about my friends seeing it at my house. If they have a problem with it, they wouldn't be my friends for long.

Wellbutrin is marketed under another name( for reasons just like your question suggests ) to help you quit smoking . If you smoke , you could say they prescribed it to help quit smoking . If you don't smoke -say you used to & want to stay that way . It's really nobody's business why you take legitimate prescriptions , though ; and others don't always know what a certain medication is for unless they are in the medical field . Relax ; don't sweat the small stuff .

Just be honest. There is NO reason for you to be embarrassed. I am on Cymbalta but even if someone saw it i don't owe them an explanation and neither you. If they get freaked out then that is their ignorance. You shouldn't worry about people knowing the real you, yes privacy is important but Welb- is nothing to hide. Hold your head up, be proud of who you are and be honest, if they have a problem with it, why would you want to remain friends with them anyway.

Unless your friends know what Wellbutrin is, I don't think they will question it. You could have an infection or something. If I saw the bottle, I would not think anything..you really should see my medicine cabinet. I wouldn't let it worry me.

1. if my friend had wellbutrin on the counter i wouldn't even think twice b/c so many people are on anti depression/anxiety meds that it's not a big deal.
2. i wouldn't care if they saw it and probably wouldn't even say anything.
I am on anti depresants/anxiety meds and i work in psychiatry. i am very open about me meds. So many people are on them that it is not really a big deal. I have friends who are on them and are embarrassed. I think it stems from our parents generations when it was so hush hush and tabo. Don't sweat it. If you are uncomfrotable then mention it to your friends if you feel compelled but honestly, don't sweat it.

1. I'm not nosy enough to check out a friends medicine, no matter where it was left, so there would be no problem.
2. If my friends asked, and only if, I would give them one of these answers, depending on how much of a friend they were and my mood at the time:
a. I'm using it to quit smoking.
b. It's for depression.
c. None of your business
Good luck w/ this and please don't worry. You are taking care of your needs and if this is how you do it, that's fine.......it's safe, legal, and better than some other alternatives.

First if I saw it, I would do or say nothing. If I were your friend I might ask you about it. If I were you I would not say anything unless I felt like it one on one with a friend. If they are your friends they will understand and if they aren't then they weren't real anyhow. We go through life with very few really close friends. Really, the rest aren't true, if they make a big deal or say anything to someone not in the group. OK. Don't worry.

you have the great oppotunity to break the stigma of mental illness..it is a matter of chemistry..NOT character...if it were my bottle and my friends saw it..so what..."yeah, having a little problem with_______ and this helps." big deal... If it was their med...SAME THING!!! "Oh..you use this medication? I've heard that it can really work well" If these are your friends, then support them and expect them to support you..if they don't, and if you can't then it really isn't a friendship and its best over..surround yourself w/people who care about you, not the medication you use. good luck

Friends shouldn't be nastily poking into private lives....
If someone DOES ask, and you get the impression it's not out of loving care for you....just say "that drug has a number of uses. But why are you asking such a personal question?"
(And that's no lie. I know one guy who is on gabapentin---an anticonvulsant---for pain related to multiple sclerosis---there are a number of unusual and "off-label" uses for meds. But antidepressant meds are as common as mud in the U.S.....)
