My dachshund has been pregnant for 52 days. She has alot 4 full bags of milk, and has been producing milk for about a week and 3 days. She has lost the hair around her nipples, and the skin looks waxy and shiny. Could someone estimate how long it will be before she will have her puppies?

Also i was wanting to know what kind of preperations i should make before the pregnancy.

Thanks

If you think she's past her due date, take her to the vet! she could have a puppy stuck in the birth canal. just make sure just she has a comfortable dark birthing box where she feels safe and is away from all the goings on at home. line it with old towels.

Is your dachshund a minature or even a small one? You have to becareful, alot of times believe it or not they have to have cesarean's because they are such a small breed. You should call your vet and inquire about it.
They are usually pregnant for 2 months. You can prepare by putting towels in a box for her and putting the box off somewhere that she can be quiet. When she has her pups, stay with her the entire time.
Good luck to you :)

ok dogs stay prego for about 65 days no matter what breed they are, and the next thing that you are asking is the preparations is that you just need to keep an eye on her and if she looks like that she is having trouble pushing then you need to call your vet. but if she is showing signs of the waxy and shiny look then she can have them any time now. you will know when she is going to have them, she will start to pace all over her whelping box, pawing at her bedding, panting really hard. you need to keep her in your sight at all time till she has had her pups. when you put her out to potty watch her no matter what because if she starts to go into labor you don't want her to have them out side. just keep her comfortable and warm and keep her water in front of her all the time because she will be very thirsty. she will not want to eat till the pups are here and that she knows that they are ok.

i breed golden retrievers and i go throught this all the time. i just watch her to make sure that she is not having any trouble pushing the pups out, then when she is done she will stay with them all the time, but when you put her out to potty she will go crazy because she wants her pups, that is perfectly normal. again don't worry about her she will be fine and you will have puppies soon.good luck

she is not overdue yet but 2 months is generally the rule. most dogs are very resltless a couple of days before they are due and don't sleep because they are trying to stay comfortable. dogs usually will have their pups early in am or late at night. she will probably whine abit but that is normal and so is some xmall to moderate amounts of blood. get her a cardboard box and cut it out and put some old sheets and or covers in thier, you will need to throw them away after she has had them and begins feeding. if you see an irregular amount of blood take her to the vet ASAP, but for animals birth is as natural as their instincts to feed and protect their young. as they get older and begin eating hard food keep them on hard for soft food is bad for their teeth. i would say within the week she will have them from what you describe

She sounds like it could be any day,
You need to makea welping crate for her. Keep it out of alot of house traffic and any drafty area in the house, the laundry room is always a nice place.
And as she is a small breed and it being her first litter have your vets phone number on hand,
The AKC has alot of nice answers you can email them at akc, com.
Have fun!! Good luck with you pups!

Talk to your breeder mentor or people fromt he rescue group where you rescued her. An ethical breeder would have a breeder mentor who could answer all these questions for her. Otherwise, the breeder is probably just going to contribute to overpopulation, poor genetics, and shelter euthanasia.

Are you sure your days are right? Or could they be off about 10 days?
