I think the Mig 23 is at like 1500MPH. They are all used.

Experimental. The Lancair IV-P with a walter turboprop. 350MPH! Cost about 500,000USD used. Also the BD-5J microjet tops 400MPH I think. They only cost about 60,000USD used.

Warbirds. The P51 Mustang. Can top 500MPH when suitably modified. A few mill to buy used.

Seriously, the Mooney 201 and M20J. They go over 200MPH. Prices range from 80,000USD to 500,000USD. A Mooney M20C or E are a bit slower, but also a bit cheaper 50-70,000USD.

They continue to move due to the momentum established when the rockets were firing. It's a little like a boat. It doesn't stop when you turn the engine off. It keeps moving until it is physically stopped. Of course a boat has the drag of the water so it will stop after a short distance, unlike a spaceship which has nothing in space to cause any resistance. "If we imagine that the rocket is in outer space, far from the earth, then there are no drag forces or gravity so there are no external forces on the rocket or the gases it expels."

The fastest non-jet A/C would be a Lancair with a turbine engine made in Oregon. The production Columbia's are the fastest production aircraft.
