Spilled some paint on a photo. Anyone have any way of removing the paint without damaging the picture? Thanks!

Probably the best thing, if you really want it to match what you already have, is to go to a hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) and buy a stain/polymer finish that is close to what your stuff is. If you get the stain and polymer together in the same can, it will save you having to apply finish to it after you have stained it. Before you start applying the finish, sand off down to the bare wood all the original color that you can using an 80-100 grit sandpaper. This will also remove any scratches that may be there, unless they are really deep. After you have sanded it all over, wipe it clean with a dry soft cloth to remove all the dust. If you have missed any places, make sure you go back, sand them and then re-wipe off the dust. Then follow the directions on the finish can. Painting it will not match what you have, plus if you paint it, you will not be able to see the wood grain showing through. Some paints also will not stick to a polymer finish, which could be what it already has on it. Therefore, I wouldn't paint it.

It partly depend on the type of paint.
Water paints can be removed with a damp sponge.

Latex paints may on some surfaces be able to be just lifted off.

Oil based paints might be a problem.

You can try gently scraping with a razor blade, taking care not to scrape below the paint. You might be able to lift it off.

Other than that, it depends on the paper. You might be able to find a solvent that affects the paint without harming the paper but you have to know quite a bit about the paper and paint to find such a thing.
