I was just wondering if a cop (off duty) instinctually hits their brakes, like most people do, when they are speeding, and see another (on duty) police officer?

What do you think?

yes, even on duty in police cars, it is just a mind set that can't be broken.

Instinct says yes you still slow down when you see a patrol car, it's just natural to do so (if you're speeding).

And don't believe that just because you are an off duty officer that you can't get a ticket, I know of numerous cases. But, yes there is also a good chance you will not get cited if you ID yourself in a professional manner.

And last but not least, that little sticker in the window......get real. Do you honestly think that an officer with any common sense would put anything on his personal vehicle that stands out and says "HEY I'M A COP" on it. That's what I'd want, a sticker that lets every little smart @ss gangster wanna be know that my car belongs to a cop. Not good when the family is driving it or when left sitting in a parking lot or in front of your home. Most agencies just let you register your vehicle license number so that it will come back to the agency you work for when an officer calls in the plate.

There is no doubt that they can go scot free easily.

There is always a chance of the on duty officer getting pulled over some day by the off duty officer and vice versa.

No matter what people have to say on this the bottom line is that cops get away easily.

Millions of people would have witnessed this and no one can deny this. Not even the cops.

As a police officer I have actually learned to abide by speed limits and traffic laws. To tell you the truth I hardly even notice other cops on the road anymore.

i recently punched and rancid-accountability police officer and not something got here approximately, different than him hitting the floor and flopping around in basic terms a sprint.... (i think of once I hit him he had a seizure) different than human beings finding at me loopy, he by no potential pressed quotes and no person ever reported a be conscious approximately it, so i do no longer understand what to tell you. i assume it relies upon the place you reside and how great a dix the cops desire to be approximately it. certainty is, the guy had it coming.....

i would have to say yes because even though they are the law they also have to follow it.There probally is some who dont care and just think that their mates will let them off.A police officer was charged the other day with asault and three counts of resisting arrest after he got into a fight out the front of a night club so realy it depends on the indavidual

Yeah, we kinda do. You see, as long as we have our badge, even if we get stopped, we can get out of a ticket easily, even if it's not by the same department. It's just that getting stopped, and having to get your badge number ran through takes up time. So to avoid that problem, like everybody else, we just take our foot off the gas and check our speed.

hahaha. the officers on duty would probably let them go, in the event that the off-duty ones are caught... like some brotherhood thing.

No we don't. We have learned that speeding doesn't pay. We have seen a lot of accidents and see what happens. We really don't even notice police any more because were obeying the law.

I would say they probably don't. Even if they get pulled over they aren't going to get a ticket once they flash that they are a cop too.
