take off now! I need to add here. You do not have to boil eggs to get a good boiled egg. Bring cold water and eggs to a boil, cover, take off heat, let sit 15 to 20 minutes. You will have perfect eggs, not the ugly greenish color around the yolks. Try it once, you will like it. I have to add again here with the info you are getting. Peeling boiled eggs are best done when they are still warm, cool by running cold over the eggs, then peel. If you have one that is hard to peel, that means it was not as fresh as the rest. That is OK, just use it cut up in something.

Eggs should NOT be put in boiling water. You should put them in cold water and heat them in it so the shells don't crack. If you want perfectly done eggs, put them in the water and simmer them for about 8 minutes. Then, turn off the heat and let them sit in it until they cool, at which point, they should be done cooking. If you need them in a hurry, pour out the hot water and run them in the pot under cold water in the sink.

Boil for 15 minutes then immediately put them into a bowl of ice water. The ice water will cool them plus keep the yolks from turning gray.
