I have a passing acquaintance with the South Beach plan, and I think it's kind of silly. I don't think following it will harm you in any way, but I question whether anyone could stick to it for a long period of time.

Any diet changes you make have to be realistic. What will you be able to eat for lunch when you are at school or work? What if you come home and are tired and want to make something fast? What if you go out to eat? South Beach is great if you have the time and freedom to control your diet perfectly. But personally I would not go for something so rigid and specific.

The problem with most diets is that you invariably quit them. You can't follow South Beach for the rest of your life. That's unrealistic. Find a diet change that you can really follow for the rest of your life. And if you make a bad diet choice here or there, it doesn't mean you "broke" your diet. Because you're not on a diet. You're a healthy eater. There's a difference.

It's a good general low carb diet.

Carbs are higher so weight loss is slower than Kimkins -- especially if eating any South Beach products. It was invented by Dr. Agatson, a cardiologist and first published in Prevention magazine.

I don't know much about the south beach diet but I know what the best diet is out there right now. It's called the " STOP EATING SO DAMN MUCH" diet. It's also good when you mix it with the "STOP COMPLAINING SO DAMN MUCH ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT AND STOP GOING TO MCDONALD'S EVERY DAY" diet.

Stupid. It makes you unhealthy, particularly, it is bad for your heart. Instead of fad diets, visit nutrition sites or books and learn what is healthy and what is not.
