Regarding the present situation, it's all right to travel to Ayutthaya alone. However, you might search for more info in our TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) website and, a suggestion, please visit old temples, ruins, etc in the daytime, it's a matter of security if you travel alone at night, just in case.

Welcome, take care and enjoy your sight-seeing.

No problem. The politcal changes are of no threat to anyone and the Islamic militants are in the South. From Bangkok, a train will cost you about 30 baht to Ayutthaya and a decent guest house will cost about 400 baht. Some flooding now, so check before you go. But it's very safe.

As with anywhere in the world you need to take precautions and use common sense. Your trip here will not be affected in any way by the political events of recent months, and the Islamic 'situation' has been pretty much resticted to the southern provinces so far.
Ayutthaya did suffer from some pretty serious flooding last week so you ought to check the current situation just before your trip.
Other than that, good luck and have a wonderful time.

Most probably YES. The thing is TRY your BEST to NOT WEAR LESS CLOTHES just because it is HOT. Wear a T-shirt(not WHITE). And be careful in Taxi. Don't go any where at night especially travel by taxi. Taxi is the problem. Avoid travel by taxi at night. Don't go anywhere at night alone. If u need to stay where many people walk by. Those are by suggestions. Have a great Trip. Don't about Cambodia and Vietnam.

Potical changing in Thailand is nothing bad..We still in peace but at the southern part of Thailand we got a terrorism problem. So if you want to go to Ayutthaya, it's very safe but now it's flooding.

I can speak personally for Pattaya, Thailand. It's beautiful and I am the "whitest of all" American looking dude in the world and no one so much as even shot me a dirty look. They are very hospitable people, they know you got money to spend. You'll be fine. And it's cheap.

Ayutthaya had some flooding problems lately but all should be fine.. I have been many times but in daylight -- I have heard that travelers should be a bit cautious at night..

Totally fine. Ayuttaya is quite a quiet town with Tourist Attraction.
Just don't leave your bag in the front basket of your bicycle when you tour around the city then.
