Why would you want to?
You're shy. She wouldn't be.
Here's my suggestion: learn to be comfortable out of your comfort zone, and learn that the popular girls aren't going to bring you eternal happiness.
How would you handle being popular if you are so shy? Don't lie to yourself and say "I would change!" That's total BS and you know it.

I used to do it all the time. Trick is if she is popular, then everyone treats her the same way. I mean how difficult can it be to be the different one? She gets tired off all the fancy stuff and like the rest of us, wants to disappear for a bit. Have a soda. Laugh and not have the whole world wonder why. She will have a reputation to keep up with so dont make things so obvious. Sneek in. Avoid her friends (they will have nothing good to say about you) coz they have their own self-presevation insticts going on.
Once you are friends, try not to stay that long for long and during the time dont forget to hit that u fancy her. And dont worship her.

just go for it!!!! approach her when she is alone so it will not be overwhelming and itimidating for you and ask her out.what is the worse that can happen ?she may say no right? but how will you ever know until you give it a try?you may also send her a note or a card telling her how you feel about her and why.tell her a bit about yourself and and give her your number if she is intersested she will let you know,you will never find happiness if you never take risks.

Hey, it's all right, so am i but when you do it the first time you have to say to yourself that you are better than everyone so you get sure that it's OK and then ask her out.

find out what she likes and dislikes kind of observer her from a far Then pratice what you will say in a mirror to her that way you won't fumble on your words
