It's been doing this for about two days now, and it's only my left eye. I wear contacts, but I don't think that could have anything to do with it. What causes twitching & how do I make it stop?

A few things can cause twitching, but in my experience it is usually stress. If you feel fine, nothing really going on, it mightbe an infection, possibly involving your contact lenses.

If it goes on for a very long time (I mean months on end and never stops or gets worse!) then you need to see a neurologist. Have you had any dental work done lately? My mother says after she went to the dentist her eye began to twitch off and on for a few months. It got so bad, to make a long story short, We think the shot he gave her to deaden the nerve made her eye twitch uncontrolably along with her side of the face for the last 5 years...usually most people's eyes return to normal, I just wanted you to know in case it doesn't stop. Good Luck.

I'm sure there is some scientific explaination for it like perhaps vascular thumping but my grandmother says when your left eye jumps it either means money or a man is coming, I can't remember which.

There are two serious conditions that can cause that. One is high blood pressure. The other is glaucoma. There are two types of glaucoma....acute and chronic. You need to see a doctor. If it is high blood pressure or chronic glaucoma, there are medications that you need to take or else you will have serious health problems later on in life. If it is acute glaucoma, you need treatment IMMEDIATELY or you risk going blind.

Could be a magnesium deficiency and you can find further information in a search for twitching + magnesium.
