The lord is my shepard I shall not want,he lays me down in green pastures..etc
This means you have a right to choose what you want.
God gives you this free will and lays down guidelines to live by,you get to chose and the ones you dont follow('cause maybe they're too hard to deal with)you dont do(Ishall not want)
green pastures..He provides everything and still we cant completly be perfect and follow the guidelines he's asked us to follow........they're Metaphores

It is an analogy. To illustrate in a simpler way.
Back then there were many shepherds, fishermen, vineyards etc so Jesus when talking in parables, he would do it in such a way as to get the people to understand the message of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus also said the following: I am:
The bread of life
The true vine
The door
Shepherd
Living water

The Lord is our shepherd because in those days sheperding was a job, the shepherd takes care of the sheep. When the sheep gets lost he finds them, when they climb the mountain side he is there to make sure they are safe, he carries them when he needs to, he brings them to green pasture to feed. The Lord is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. Check out Max Lucado's book: Safe in the Shepherd's Arms.

A shepherd watches over his flock. He guides them. keeps them safe, makes sure they enough to eat and drink and shelter from the storms. When one get lost the Shepherd searches and worries until the lost is found and safely with in the flock. Isn't that what God does? He is telling us that He is our Shepherd and if we let Him He will care for us so that we have no worries

the lord is our shepard first we will look at what shepards do, they take their sheep every day to green pastures to eat ,this is a symbol of god feeding us daily with his word,he takes them to quiet waters to quench their thirst this is a symbol of the holy spirit, the shepard guards the sheep from ravenous wolves he will lay down his life to stop the wolves from killing the sheep ,this is a symbol of how he keeps us from false teachers and danger, if one of the sheep gets lost he will search and find that sheep ,which is a symbol of god fetching back the backsliders, the sheep know the shepards voice which is god saying that his children his sheep know his voice he will then lead the sheep through the gate to safety which is a symbol of jesus taking us through the narrow gate to eternal life

The word "shepherd" was being used to describe our ideal relationship with God.
In that time and culture, a shepherd provided for all the needs of his sheep. He protected them from predators, fed them, watered them and loved them. Yet he was totally and utterly in charge of them. No sheep would ever have been able to rise up against him.

It's a metaphor and refers to the Lord as Providence, that is a being who watches out for our wellbeing.

Shepherd guides his sheep it just a saying trying to explain to us God guides us.
If we stay around him by believing in him. and listening to his word. he will take care of us as we are all naive in this world, nobody knows everything, like the sheep are to his shepherd.
The shepherd is lord to his sheep. and God is lord to us.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, some knot head that hasn't had an original thought, or an original idea in his life has to ask another bone head question. These kinds of questions are useless, and serve absolutely no purpose.
