Pastor here - Absolutely OKAY. Spot On. Marvelous, Superb, and good. Bravo, Kudos, and similar beasts of approval. I rejoice for you. Jolly Good.
And a groovy witness to boot.

Yes, it is poor etiquette to have two ceremonies, and bad manners to lie to your guests at the "big fancy wedding" next June about what they are witnessing (a re-run, not your actual wedding).
Get married whenever you want/need to, and send out wedding announcements immediately afterwards. For the etiquette of sending annoucnements, see: http://www.crane.com/Etiquette.aspx?C=WeddingEtiquette&S=Wedding_Announcements
If you cannot afford a wedding reception right now, you really do not need to have one. Just take your parents and grandparents out to dinner after the ceremony with the judge.
Later you can throw an Anniversary Banquet or dinner-dance, to celebrate with a larger group of people, when circumstances permit.
But please, not two wedding ceremonies. That's not appropriate.

Just wait until June and have one wedding. Getting married by a justice of the peace is tacky - save up for a nice wedding!

Kind of. Your first wedding will be the "real" wedding.
Your second wedding will just be a renewal of vows. If your 2nd wedding is a religious ceremony it will also be Sacramental.
Oh yes, of course this is "OK", I think it make a lot of sense for a military family. Congratulations.

i would say its your wedding and you should do it how you want. my friend had two weddings. one was done by a justice of the peace and the other was in a church with all her family. a blessing would be fine if that is what you want.

Your wedding only happens once. Why bother having the second one?

it's more common than you think. You get married legally first then when the time is right you have a religious ceremony
