Take some motrin or advil about an hour before you go; it will help minimize the pain. The braces going on don't really hurt. What hurts is that your teeth start moving pretty quickly.

Also, ask your parents to get you a "water pik" if you don't already have one. Flossing is difficult with the braces and the water pik does a wonderful job of getting the stuff you missed with the floss.

Your lips might swell, but don't worry about it. People say that it really hurts, but i didn't have a problem with it. If you have a low tolerance for pain, take an advil or something before you go. Just relax, if you get yourself all worked up than it seems a lot worse. Remember to pick a band color that you can live with for a month. (Don't get black and orange because tomorrow is halloween, after tomorrow, it's not cute anymore). The cement/glue kinda tastes bad, but you get to rinse a lot. Good Luck!

brush your teeth alot, keeping your braces clean is super important. They're gonna hurt, but it's not terrible, take some advil right after getting them on and eat softer food for the first day or two. The results you'll get are totally worth all the pain and hassle, goodluck!

Yep, and you're not going to want to hear it. but you can not take medication before during or after orthodontic treatment to help the pain of your braces being on. if you do, it is going to impeade and slow down the treatment, and you'll only be making it worse for yourself in the end. with all the pain you will feel, trust me, do not take pain meds. you'll spend twice the time in braces with half the improvement.

Stick with it!!!
There will be uncomfortable moments but the outcome is worth it! I have seen many people stop in the middle of treatment and regret it later, only to start again.
Follow the Dr.'s orders and it will be over before you know it!!

.THE BEST ADVICE IS TO KEEP THEM CLEAN AND THE GUMS HEALTHY. PURCHASE A WATPIK ORAL IRRIGATOR. THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY TO KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN. A RATHER INEXPENSIVE INVESTMENT FOR HAVING BRACES.

yes take some tylenol, advil, etc. because you will be sore for the first few days or week or so. eat soft foods like mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie, pudding, applesauce, etc. because it will probably hurt when you chew. good luck=)
