when you become anxious you breathe more rapidly and your blood becomes oxygen saturated. the best and quickest way to calm down is to put a paper or plastic bag over your mouth and nose and try to breathe normally. as the co2 level rises you will start to feel better. i had the same problem years ago and could find no reason for the panic attacks. i was cured by a hypnotist in one session. good luck.

No psychotropic medication is quick acting, mood alterating. Medications for panic attacks takes time to get to a therapeutic level in the body, which is usually about ten days. You need to take the medication daily as prescribed.
Depakote is NOT for panic attacks. It is used primarily for seizure disorders or issues related to mental illness.
Please be smart. If you are not prescribed a medication by a doctor, you are stupid to take it. Or you could end up DEAD

Well, yes, depakote can help anxiety over a period of time. Xanax is extremely addictive! BuSpar is a really great drug that is not addictive. It helps with panic and anxiety attacks.

I have been on depakote. It didn't do a thing for me. If it's the fast acting thing i would say zanex. Depakote takes its sweet time to get in your system and to work.

Depakote is not for anxiety attacks. This drug is for bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and migranes. Xanex is the drug to take for panic attacks.

depakote can actually bring on anxiety attacks. would recommend low dose xanax and take some classes on anxiety and phobia to learn the necessary skills to control them. I did and it changed my life.
