This will be worse than Vietnam, no american will be safe in the Middle East in the foreseeable future. Even if they manage to withdraw soon the political and economic costs will go on for many years.
In the meantime the americans will have more and more of their freedoms restricted by their own government.

I really hope not, who know's what will happen if the democrat's win the next two election's(probably nothing), but i believe we should talk with Iran directly, if they will, because they rejected talks earlier this year, even though this is something i never wanted to see happen, i know Iran will definently go back on whatever agreement that we make, but maybe they will help us save Iraq, in the long run this will be a bad move, just as talks with North Korea was a mistake in 1994, but it will help us in the shortrun. Sadly we are in that kinda state in the middle east.
But, whatever i might say i think we should never cut and run, this war is absolutely nothing like Vietnam, it is only worse than Vietnam in a political sense, in a military sense we need to change some tactics but the media shows things that are way over blown, we need to finish the job in Iraq either way.

I will take a stab at this question. I am not sure how we can. The situation is grave, the war un winnable and there are no good options. When we leave the Arab combatants are going to try to hand our heads to us when they follow us home.
The fact is this nation building episide backfired. If Rumsfeld and Cheney felt that humiliating Arabs would drive them over to support the Occupation, they sadly misjudged. All his life Bush has had his daddy's friends to bail him out...up until now.
We don't need to cut and run. The war will always be with us now...where ever we run and hide - retribution is waiting in the wings. This is far, far WORSE than Vietnam.

"Cut andrun" is a Republican term. It reflects trying to save face, to be proud, large egos, and an ignorance of the right thing to do. And what do you mean 'another Vietnam?' Have you studied the history preceding Vietnam? If you did, you would understand we had NO BUSINESS BEING THERE - so Iraq may be another Vietnam, yes it is time to "cut and run", and we never should have gone to Iraq. If you are so proud, shouldn't you have enlisted by now, along with all your children and friends, if Iraq is such a just invasion by the USA?

Like the Republicans decided to "cut and run" from "stay the course." At least Joe Biden and the liberals have a plan for getting us out of the war and giving Iraq or however it ends up some stability. All the Republicans want to do is just keep on fighting until the Iraqi can fight for themselves which always seems to be a year away. They said last year that the Iraqi would be ready in one year and this morning they said that the Iraqi would be ready in 12 - 18 months and during that time US soldiers continue to fight and die and Iraqi civilians continue to be victims of sectarian violence.

No, it is not like Vietnam, at least we were asked by the government of South Vietnam to be there. NO ONE in Iraq wanted us there.

People play quick and lose with terms when they compare the Iraq war with Vietnam. They are two totally different wars, and comparing them shows ignorance for our history and the lives that have been lost in both wars.

Why will the United States cut and run from Iraq?
LIBERALS, AND THEIR ANTI- AMERICAN SOCIALIST VIEWS.
Will this be another Vietnam?
Only if the Dumass American populas lets it. In case you haven't noticed, the 60's are over, The VietNam conflict is over, and the hippies put down the pipe and their offspring became yuppies......
You Are classified as both a dumass American, And A liberal whine-***. Congratulations.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
SCREW TRAITORS.

We will never cut and run , but at some time we will have to leave Iraq . We can't just keep letting our soldiers me killed , day after day , month after month and year after year .
If G.W. Bush were a man , he would win this war and bring our military home before his term is over , this is his war and he shouldn't leave it to anyone else to clean up .
Either we will be forced out or tell them this is your country , fight for it , like we did when we became a Democracy .
