It is best to have the recommended amount of water fresh every day. Coffee etc, is not pure enough and is sluggish so stick with water as well. Better to be safe then sorry right. Curious 2006

If it's no longer water ... what is it?
Yes it still counts towards your "water intake" if you're doing a calorie intake you need to be aware of the amounts of sugar in your cordial or coffee
Same as beer and softdrink .... high in sugars but also mostly water

The FDA says all liquid counts toward water intake.
Everything is water until it's mixed with something else. Imagine having 2 glasses of liquid - 1 water, 1 milk - now mix them together. Is the water not water anymore?
Whatever you drink is mixed together in your tummy anyway.
Tea, coffee and alcohol have a dehydrating effect, but what scientists have observed is that people simply drink more fluid automatically to compensate. They've done experiments.

the water in coffee is counted, but not beer or softdrinks because of the diuretic effect those two have on the kidneys, you lose as much as you drink when you drink those.

alcahol has a dehydrating effect on the body, so anything acaholic does not count.
Recent treport suggest that caffinated beverages, like coffee and soda do not dehydrate people who are regular drinkers of them, but the older data says they too are dehydrating.
Stick to plain water, or sports drinks, but nothign too sugary of you are concerned with stayig hydrated.

water is water.
dont count eight cups of coffee as eight glasses of water.
if its not water, its not counted as water in the 8 a day.
edit: to minister1 2002 (2 posts below me)...just because it is a liquid does not make it equate to a glass of water. urine is liquid too, would you drink it 8 times a day to supplement your water? no. think about it poeple, its just about water, not anything with water in it.
