Christians: why are you so afraid/distrustful of atheists ...?

Question

according to a recent survey, Americans distrust atheists more than any other group of people, but ...

as 9/11 makes clear, the threat is from a major organized religion - not atheists.

we are also statistically much less likely to take your money or bash you in the head than your fellow Christians.

So, what's up?

Thieves only take your money. By converting you to atheism atheists rob you of your eternal soul. Atheists tend to be very intelligent and know more than many of us christians. But they will end up burning in hell because they think too much, and I for one do not want them to take me with them.

No offense to you or any other atheists of course, but have you ever considered that atheists bring attention upon themselves? Sort of like this question is doing. You're viewing all christians from a close minded sterotypical point of view. Not all christians are against atheists. I completely agree with you that 9/11 did open the eyes to people. I also believe that no matter what religion or no religion anyone can create an act of violence. It's the person not the religion, they just get carried away.

So Hitler was an atheist, following Darwinism? History is being distorted by many preachers and politicians. They are heard on the airwaves condemning atheists and routinely claim Adolph Hitler was one. What a crock! Hitler was a Roman Catholic, baptized into that religio-political institution as an infant in Austria. He became a communicant and an altar boy in his youth, and was confirmed as a "soldier of Christ" in that church. The worst doctrines of that church never left him. He was steeped in its liturgy, which contained the words, "perfidious Jew." This hateful statement was not removed until 1961. Perfidy means treachery.
Do a little research before saying something that can be easily and obviously disproved.

I don't view atheism as a threat....it saddens me, unlike terrorism that IS a threat.....atheists have a right to their opinion, I just happen to think they're wrong, which is MY right. But they are not the enemy. I take offense to your head-bashing/money-grabbing statement by Christians, however.....we're not ALL like Jim Baker & Jimmy Swaggart ya know! Some of us are God fearing and Bible believing!

Actually I've known a lot of great ppl who are atheists so you can't say all us Christians feel that way. Only atheists that annoy me are the trouble makers here at yanswers (not u).

I consider major organized religion to be against Christ as it was when he was on earth. It was the religious people of his day who delivered him to be crucified. I do not think it fair to align major organized religion with an individual who places faith in Christ.

This is a question that I for one, am incapable of answering. I am 'wiccan', and I'm given suspicious glares and glances constantly. I'm not going to say that all christians are close minded, but yes, many /are./ They believe that THEY are right and therefor all other religions are going to H E double hockey sticks. xD They see things as either good or evil and they see no in between. I have nothing against christians but many that I know really need to become tolerant to other religions.

Forgive me, I just had to rant and rumble a bit.

What's up is this dude: Adolf Hitler was an atheist and look what he did. He was following Darwinian logic by cleansing the world of anyone not having Aryan blood coursing through their veins.
