I'm so sick of the talk about illegal immigration! I used to work for a company in Chicago that employed illegals from IRELAND. No one said a word about it because they were WHITE, and that used to make me SICK!

The only reason Mexican immigration is an issue is because those people are BROWN!!! And anyone who can't see that is an idiot!

The White majority in America are scared to death of becoming minorities themselves, and losing their majority voting power! The idea of Mexicans becoming the majority in this country is frightening to them.

Unfortunately the wall is too little, too late. There is nothing anyone can do from stopping Mexicans from becoming the majority in this country. And myself, as a minority, I have no problem with that.

The only solution to the immigration problem is not to go after the Mexicans, or build a wall to keep them out. These are just smoke screen solutions that will not work. The reason Mexicans come here is for work and pay. That is their "demand" Employers in the US provide the jobs, the "supply" If you want to stop Mexicans from coming, prosecute and fine the employers who hire them. That is much cheaper and more humane than border guards and a fence. Remember the Berlin Wall? If those who wish to profit from the cheap labor of illegals were really prosecuted and fined, there would be no work for the illegals, and they would stop coming. It might be worth asking why this is not being done or discussed, but as it is about money, and we have "the best politics money can buy," I am not surprised.

Yes, more will need to be done. A wall is not the answer, it's just the best one the politicians could up with to say they are doing something. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with anyone that comes over here legally and wants a better life themselves and their families. I do have a problem with people that refuse to even make any effort to change to there new society and especially to do it illegally. I think that we must also punish the people that employ illegals to the full extent of the law. second, we need to stream like the emigration law to make it easier for those that want to make a better life here. Again this is only a beginning but I think it would be a good beginning.

I can't help but think of the Berlin Wall in this case. This was constructed in a crowded city and strecthed about 100 miles. Over the years, over 2000 people got over. Many were killed in the effort to keep East Berliners from crossing over to the West.

This Tex-Mex proposal is for a 700 mile wall that will run across desert and unihabited land. The roads have yet to be built. The man power to run electricity, pavement, and plumbing along this barrier is going to be extraordinary. But I wonder if it will do any good.

If someone wants to get in, we have to remember that the proposed barrier will not run from coast to coast across the border, but only part of it. Also, we have miles and miles of coastline that can be infiltrated if one is stealthy enough. Then, we have the Canadian border which is also stretched across vass expanses of wilderness.

My fear is not so much that illegal immigrants will come and take jobs. My fear is that terrorists will still find a way in.

Where does that leave us? National identity cards?

Mexico has to be on the same page as us. So does Canada.

I say outsorce the work.

Going to be enough for what exactly? Keeping illegals out...no...they will find a way around, over, or under the wall. Keeping out terrorists...well uh...no...most terrorists don't come in from Mexico.
The wall is a gesture that the government is taking a tough stance on illegal immigration and terrorism. One really has nothing to do with the other....its all big waste of money that we don't have.

Enough for what, dear? To keep your fellow NAFTA citizens from benefitting from our economic bloc? The wall will do nothing. In the short term, it will prove a brief deterrrent to 'illegal' migration, in the long term it will not. The economy and political climate in Mexico needs to be improved, that is all. In fact, more integration with Mexico and Canada along the lines of the European Union would be vastly superior, it might actuallly help combat outsourcing jobs to China and India? The wall is a failure in the making.

We need a comprehensive immigration reform that accounts for the people already here.

They approved the wall BUT they didn't approve funding. So the wall will probably never be built. But as long as the powers that be continue to promise to build it, they will get votes. Its all about VOTES!

I myself have no problems with Mexicans or any other minority. I welcome them all and hope that we can all live together peacefully.

Of course more needs to be done, On both sides of the border,
A wall will not fix everythingl; this is not a case of out of mind out of sight. There are years ahead of work to do.

More Border Patrol, more surveillance, more electronic detectors, and less corruption in the Mexican government would be quite helpful too!
