No, imagine a room with 10 people in it. 9 of them play a sport and 1 does not. The 9 players are sports players, the other individual is simply not a sports player. He doesn't have a sport at all. Saying atheism is a religion is like saying the guy who doesn't play any sports plays "the nothing sport."

This is a ridiculous idea.

Consider another analogy. If you have 5 shoe boxes and only 4 of them have shoes, does that mean their are non-shoes in the empty box? No. It is an empty box. The abscence of something does not require the negative of something (non-shoes).

Atheism is a descriptor of someone without a religion or belief in God. Atheism requires no faith, unquestionable belief or ritual. It is most definitely not a religion.

I think you mean "atheism", and no, it's not a religion. Atheism is simply the belief that no God or gods exist. Period.

Atheism: n, from the Greek a- without, theos- god. 1. the belief that there is no God.

Religion: n, from the Latin religio, holiness. 1. belief in and worship of God or gods. 2. a specific system of belief, worship, etc., often involving a code of ethics.

Both definitions are taken from Webster's 2003 edition dictionary. So no, atheism isn't a religion.

Questions like these always make me wonder about the poster.

No. An atheist doesn't believe in any god. Religions require a belief in a god.

Atheism is a demonic false cult. Some atheists say it is a religion and some say its not. Their atheistic propaganda is partially founded by science and evolution which is an non-absolute fairy tale.
