i feel depressed a lot, not all the time, just a lot. maybe thats just the way i am, my personality. i have "ADD" so iv been told, but no, wait, could it be that i simply dont enjoy spending time doing tedious school work and is it possible that i just have a normal tendancy to tune out repetitive sounds and white noise? why is my personality a disease? im not a bad person.

Yes A.D.D. and O.C.D. are just terms the medical industry came up to try to push drugs down our throats. Just about everyone I know has been told they might have A.D.D. just because they have trouble focusing. A lot of people have trouble focusing on one thing in today's world. We are forced to be able to multitask to focus on 12 things at once. O.C.D. is just the opposite side of A.D.D. where as people who are outgoing have trouble focusing on one thing, people who are more reserved tend to focus on one thing too much. If you think you really need the drugs to help you...fine, but you can force yourself to focus as long as you become aware of yourself. I was once thought to have A.D.D. and the drugs didn't do anything to me, so my parents took me off of them. Over the years I have become more aware of my personality, the annoyances or the weaknesses of it, and I have compensated where necessary. I'm I perfect...Hell no, but I am a much better person than before, and I did it without drugs. So yes the FDA is trying to force drugs down your throat to make you docile. Don't buy it whatever you do.

You probably don't need drugs.

What you probably need to do is stop and think about what your future will be like if you slack off and get horrible grades in school.

Do you really want to spend your life making only what money you can scrounge from people in tips, bringing them food and drinks?

Or live in some guy's house raising his kids, and being at his mercy to decide whether you can have $5 for a new shirt at WalMart or the Goodwill?

Think about the end result of what your parents and teachers are wanting you to do!! Make your choices!!

If you find that you are not ABLE to choose the straight and narrow path in life... then maybe you do need medication to help you.

the powerful drug co.'s and the AMA push drugs ... the best methods are often drugless like confronting problems and changing ones approach I always look for drugless remedies first .... I 've heard from some med students that Dr.s are forced to suggest what they don't even believe in these days ... judge for yourself if alternative med is safer and effective then that's the way to go ......usually there are good reasons behind depression that can be changed and that will in turn change your attitude or outlook in life obviously
peace out and get a second opinion (enjoy the life anyway!)

They seem to think that the normal state of the brain is to feel happy all the time. But the first lesson Buddha teaches us is that life is not ever completely satisfactory. I would trust Buddha before I ever trusted a shrink with a prescription pad.

lots of parents cant deal with the fact that their child is ... well a child and acts childish... so they claim that they have ADD and dope them up on drugs. and if you're depressed then you should want to get better, dont think of it as a disease think of it as a mood. and when you're in a bad mood you usually want to change it, and the drugs are a way to help that. you can also try theropy if you dont like the drugs.

wow i never thought of it that way, Thats a good point but on the other hand, It might be true because remember we are in the 2000 and doctors are getting smarter and figuring things out that they didnt know before... so you never know. If you do alot of research you will see that maybe there were things in your childhood that made you the way you are.

My son has ADD and was on medication for years all I can say is he was a different person before medication and the medication helped him concentrate and do well in school. No one is telling you to change who you are but a chemical imbalance is just that and it needs to be balanced out with medication your depression would vanish.

I could not agree with you more. There are some mental disorders like bi-polar and schizophrenia that can only be helped by meds. Some can be helped and doctors just call it a disorder and give us meds.

Oh, oh. Someone's caught on! If others figure it out, this could impact the profits of pharmaceutical companies and the income of their stooges, the psychologists and psychiatrists.
