This could be caused from a number of things. First of all you will want to make sure she does not have any fleas. Just one flea bite can cause a pet to start itching and biting at their skin like crazy if they are allergic to the fleas. This is called Flea Allergy Dermatitis. If it is not fleas, it could possibly be caused by her food. She is at the right age for allergies to food to be showing up. If it is a food allergy your vet will need to put her on a prescription diet of either Royal Canin Hypoallerginic 19 or Hills Science Diet HD. If she is put on this type of food you will want to make sure that you dont give her any other type of food or treat while on this food to make sure that the food will clear up her problem. There is also a possibility that this could be caused by a skin infection. Your vet might need to take a skin scrape and skin impression to see what is contained in and on her skin. The best thing to do is to take her into your vet and have her seen. They will be able to tell you what is going on and give you some medicine to stop the itching right now. They will also need to give you some antibiotics to clear up the open sores (hot spots) that she has. You do not want those getting any more infected than they already are. I hope everything gets cleared up soon, it really stinks when these little guys are having problems.

Dogs can have allergies, too. Our dog has them and he has been miserable. Get her to a vet. There are things the vet can try first, such as medication. She will need to be on an antibiotic for her wounds. Make sure she takes all of them.
If the things the vet tries doesn't work, she will have to go to a pet dermatologist or allergist. Good luck. I hate to see them miserable. Our dog is fine now, thank goodness.

First of all, does your dog have fleas? If not, the dog probably has allergies. My dog did that and I took her to the vet. She got an allergy shot and some meds. She cleared up almost immediately. Don't let this go. Take the dog to the vet

The itching could be from an allergy to food, airborn allergens, fleas or contact. It could also be from mange or ringworm. The scabs are probably secondary to the allergy and are caused from a bacterial infection. You need to take her to your veterinarian to get a diagnosis and treatment.

it sounds like hot spots. the first thing that you need to do is shave the area that is infected, next bathe her in aveeno oatmeal soap and let it sit onher skin for about 2 min, next you will need to put an e-collar on her to keep her from chewing on the spot, also you will need to get derma-cool spray from your vet to spray on her, this will help her, you will need to bathe her every other day to help her skin heal. now the next thing to concider is the food, you want to feed her a food that is all natural like chicken soup, which has all natural ingredients. you don't want to feed a food that has( wheat, corn, soy, beef, or by-products) these ingredients will cause dry skin like what your dog has. good luck

its probably a hot spot is what they call it. The pet stores around you have the meds. for it. Most dogs get this, but the meds. really work and the dog is over it real soon.
