Fear of the unknown and probably a better understand of the risks of surgery cause stress and anxiety before surgery. If you were very young, that lack of knowledge or understanding of the risks was probably a blessing. If it is problematic talk with your doctor or surgeon. This is not an uncommon occurrence.

When you are young you have nothing to base your fear on and you have absolute trust in the grownups around you to know what they are doing. A little fear is natural and I would be more concerned if you weren't a little scared. Fear is natures way of making us cautious and keeping us from doing stupid things. Surgery is not stupid but its mother nature just checking in to make sure you are thinking things through.

Hey, don't worry. It will be over before you know it, and stressing about it is just going to make it worse. Ask them to give you alot of anesthetic, or that laughing gas. Also, listen to some good music before you go in, and they might let you listen during the procedure, whether under or not.

Ask for some calmative pills before you get put to sleep like tammazapan, relax. When you get older you tend to over think things. I get nervous before a general doctors visit.

Dental surgery is very safe. If you are worried, ask to have a sedative.
