A scratch golfer is a golfer with a zero handicap. A handicap is calculated taking the average of a golfers top 10 scores out of his last 20 rounds. In order to minimize the effects of playing harder or easier courses, each course is given a rating and that is factored into each score.

I am a 14 year old 13 handicap. A scratch golfer is someone who shoots par on a golf course, he is someone with a handicap of 0. Par is made by the lenght of the hole and you get two putts. So on a par 5, it's the longest, three shots to the green, two putts to make par. It is called scratch because you've probably heard, "I'm going to make some food from scratch" - or nothing = 0
