I'm 15. I feel depressed most of the time. It feels like nothing excites me anymore, and I feel like I have such a depressing outlook on like. I am barely ever happy, and it seems like life sucks. I don't know what to do.

See a psychiatrist. You could have a neurotransmitter imbalance and may need medication. Don't listen to that un-scientologist Tom Cruise. Medical Research shows clear differences in brain chemical levels between those who are depressed and those who aren't. So, go talk to a psychiatrist and let them decide what's what. If you don't like the first one, try another one.

You don't know what life is or what it's about. If you did you would not even think of feeling that way. You have no sense of purpose. I found that for myself just as we all have to find it for ourselves. I found the answer in very, very great detail. Too much to put here. I can point you in some different directions but you need to learn, think, and evaluate the point of life for yourself. In the short term, try this exercise to help with feeling down. Close your eyes and focus on your lungs and feel courage. I know it sounds stupid, but all humans are machines built to do many things that you do not know of and this will automatically work against feeling down. Your internal organs do more than what chemistry and physics describe. There is a lot to learn about what this place is and what we are doing here but you have to beat the struggle to even start in the first place. Hang in there and good luck.

You should talk to your school counselor or social worker. You may be experiencing situational depression (anniversary of a bad experience) or it may be something more serious. Also, talk to your parents. They can get you into counseling that is confidential unless you are a threat to yourself (self-harm, or suicidal, or homicidal).

Your primary doctor may also recommend anti-depressants, but a thorough assessment should be done first. Medication is not a long term solution and is not for everyone.

Also, there are many places that offer a kids helpline that is free and confidential with the above exceptions. Most are available 24/7. Good luck!

Have you tried getting out of the house and around maybe the happiest person you know and spending some time with them? Does depression run in your family. Are you having regular periods...hormones can make you feel evil! Sorry. It is true. If you really can't get out of this slump, are you eating enough of the right kinds of food. Getting enough iron? You need to get to the Dr. have some blood work done and try changing your diet and drink lots of water, less sugar, it just makes you feel low and not good. Protien and fruit and veggies make you feel better. Lots of small meals or snacks that are healthy. Get the check up and make the changes and then ask the Dr. for advice...or go to the local mental health clinic and get some help from them. Please, don't let this go on....try the healthy easy changes first and then if you need meds. Don't be ashamed...take them until you feel you can get out of this slump. good luck to you.

. Believe it or not a lot of teens your age feel this way .I did when I was your age. The thing that helped me Is I wrote stories about what was going on with my life Then all of a sudden I saw a trend My life was not always happy not always sad it kind of went like mountain peeks .
Most important exercise and make sure you eat right I know it sounds dumb but if you do it daily it really helps with depression. I used to work with kids in mental health we gave them tons of activities to do basket ball baseball running sit ups etc . Then we gave them tons of arts and crafts to do as well . They went to the movie once a week and outside actives as well .
So get up get out and get some hobbies .

Talk to a family member or a friend. Someone who you trust without a doubt. Tell them whats going on in your life. It could be just hormones. But you could also have a mental disorder. If this has been going on almost every day for more than 2 weeks think about seeing a doctor. Its better to find out and get help than sit there in silence. You can't be helped if you don't say whats going on.
Good Luck!!!

Same here buddy! what I do often to get some energy back into my life is to sit in a dark room and think about the beautiful moments that I ever had in life, I try to draw inspiration to get back to studies, think what my competitors must be doing and an angry shout comes out from within " Come on loser get back to life and prove to the world that you aare a winner". I hope it helps you to coz we are almost the same age, I am 16.

Here's something that will help immediately: Go outside. Look up at the sky and yell, as loud as you can (try to wake the neighbors), "I Love it Here!"
Next, grin like you mean it and walk up to the first person you see and tell them, "I've got new socks on!" The expression on their face will make you laugh.
(And there's absolutely nothing wrong with being silly every once in a while.)
