Vice President at any manufacturing plant, running same plant (different lines of product) for 30 years and got his kids temporary jobs either in the office or on the floor. Happens all the time. As a matter of fact - plastics manufacturing has been around for that many years. Good luck.

Ok, this is your primary story figure? You say he's 60 and has had the same job, for 30 years? But you haven't chosen his profession, yet. Ok, how about Private Investigation? When his kids were teens, he got them jobs, where he works? And you say, he worked in an office? That changes things. Food Service Manager? Or Park Ranger? When I was a kid, my father was a park ranger. He had an office.

He is a farmer's son. He owned land handed down from his family from generation to generation./several thousand acres... And although he tries to make a living, with all the state/federal taxes, prices, and property taxes, he's spilling money into a dead end pit. Therefore, he has went to urban development, has his degree in business. Economic times have changes and farming is now corporate..... land sells for so much more when it's residential as is California. His kids are his new corporate world, kinda like Paris Hilton......they sell his concept and bring the community into his their Dad's concept, althougth with every family there is a black sheep.

Here's a hint. It sounds like you are trying to develop plot first. Don't.
Create your characters first. Once you have a few characters created, ONLY THEN put them together. They will tell you what the plot is. Their conflicts, motivations, desires, obstacles, and goals combined will practically write your story for you!

He should be CEO of a big fictional business. But that seems a bit boring, no offense. Unless it's supposed to be like that...
