Do not know about Wachovia.

In the U.S.
Some banks will check credit for checking and a debit card.
Some banks will only check your credit for a debit card.
Other banks will not check your credit at all.

Most banks do check either telecheck or check systems to see if you have wrote any bad checks.

i have never heard of a bank not giving someone a checking account cause you have bad credit. a checking account doesnt go by your credit history.

Your credit would only effect your bank account if you had a previous bank account that was overdrawn and never paid and then reported to a collection agency....if this has never happened, your credit report has nothing to do with your bank account.

Well, things have changed. Years ago you could go open an account anywhere; now alot, if not all institutions, check your credit. Nothing is easy anymore.

they will check to see if you had any bank collection items. Also they will not open a checking account if you are on the "Bad check list"
