He may be under some kind of societal pressure. Back in the day, my Dad would have killed me for dating a black girl. This is not necessarily a racial issue - if it was he would not talk to you.
Whether or not something is a racial issue is in the mind of the beholder, and please consider other reasons first. It may be you are a good friend, and only a good friend, like other females. It's not always about dating.
It may be he is too shy to go the next step and actually ask you out. You are not doing anything wrong! If you truly get the "vibes" that he likes you and would consider taking you out...then you might consider thinking up a subtle hint, and then see what happens. But don't do anything you are not totally comfortable with! Good luck!!!

The way I am reading this is just that he is doing guy stuff calling you cute and all that. And it totally does not matter if you guys don't look like a "perfect couple" Color means nothing in terms of a good relationship. If he hasn't asked you out, he probably still in the friend stage of everything. That is a good place to be. If you get to be good friends before you start dating, your dating life will probably be easier.

I'm a white guy and I've dated black girls before, so this guy probably thinks that you just don't like him. I would recommend that you ask him out.. Besides, this is the 21st century right? I wouldn't be too concerned about looking like the "perfect couple", if such a thing even exists. You can't spend your life trying to please other people. Life is too short, I say go for it!!

Why do you not look like the perfect couple? Maybe he's just nervous to ask you out. He's obviously not a racist person, so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong.

Maybe he's afraid that you think that you two are too different to date, so he's afraid to ask you out. Maybe you could point out another b/w couple and say something like you admire them for ignoring society's barriers and doing what they want...
