In the United States the tradition is on the left hand and on the third finger aka. ring finger!
Many other religions in this world use other fingers or no finger rings at all! SO to get a true answer you need to define the area that you are looking into!

I am going to take a wild guess based on everyone elses answers and say the left hand. I also know that they put it on ring finger which is the one next to the pinkie finger. I suppose though if you wanted to be non- traditional, or just plain different, you could wear the ring on your right hand. My uncle does this, but only cuz he is left handed and doesn't want to bang it up all the time.

Always the left hand, today many women where there engagment rings on the right ring finger and band on the left ring finger
