wow, you remind me of the movie "she's all that". Maybe you just like her, you can't LOVE her. LOVE is not like a crush or infatuation. It's something else. In your case, it's just a crush....why don't you go up to her and strike up a conversation or do it the old fashioned way!! Be her secret admirer! Give her flowers or a note in her locker....she'd be sure to notice. Don't be shy! If you are, get someone else to talk to her. Ask your friend to ask her what she thinks of you. Good luck!

Crushes are fun! Ask her out. Get lunch (it's less pressure than dinner). Go on a walk. Do something casual so that you're comfortable. The thing about the theater/bookworm who makes people laugh- she's confident, and comfortable. I know because I was her years ago. She'll appreciate you being direct. I suspect that she'll let you know if she's interested. Approach her.

Wow, just talk to her. I say this because the girl you are describing sounds just a little bit like me, and I wouldn't laugh at you, or be rude or anything awful that you might be afraid of. Tell her how you feel, or just start out making casual friends with her. I personally would try my hardest to make you feel comfortable talking because when a person is talking to me, and is obviously trying to have a decent conversation despite being uncomfortable, I really feel for them. I would listen and laugh at corny jokes. She might come to a football game of yours.
Start out by trying to say hi to her everyday, then try just mentioning something casually that you can both laugh about. (Did you see the stupid burgler story on the news last night?) Ask her what book shes reading. (this one gets me.)
Eventually it will get easier.
