Thank you for taking the initiative. I am a Christian. I tend to be intolerant of scientists claiming to know things that they do not actually know while suppressing those in their community that think differently, evolution taught as fact, and "Christian evolution."

That felt great, thanks!

I'm an atheist with respect to the Hebrew Bible and all religions derived from it. I'm an agnostic with respect to the greater question of some kind of supreme creator of the universe.

I enjoy talking philosophy with people who believe in some kind of god, even the Christian concept of God, as long as they are open minded enough to acknowledge that the Bible can't be literally true, that Science is valid way to gain knowledge about the natural universe, and in particular accept at least the broad outline of the modern understanding of the evolution of life on earth over the last ~4 billion years.

But yes, I am prone to be intolerant of fundamentalists who reject anything that contradicts their rigid interpretation of the Bible. And I wish even moderate Christians would be a little more intolerant of the fundamentalists -- it would be good for our society.

I, too, am intolerant of ignorance and superstition. Which is why I am participating in this forum: to try to shed some light among the unenlightened. (Judging from the reactions i have received, my success in this endeavor has been quite limited.) At least creationism and intelligent design are easy to shoot down if you know anything about how to do science.

Yep. Me too. Here's the reason:

Clearly organized religion - especially the monotheistic religions - threaten our very existence. Modern terrorism is wrought in the name of Allah against others who have call their supremo God. It was only a few hundred years ago that the situation was reversed (and could be again).

I value my life, and organized religion could end it, or more importantly, it could end the life of my child.

Remember, no one is wading into a crowded market and blowing themselves up in the name of Bertrand Russell.

I am intolerant of creationism/ID (they ARE the same stinking dish with different garnish) because it threatens the intellectual freedom and development of my child and his generation.

It could also concievably threaten my life. Do I want a doctor whose grade school science classes were religious fairytales instead of biology and genetics? That's a bit scary.

I am an atheist because i chose to be one. My explanation is an intelligent one...I became evolved! HEE HEE! :)

I am intolerant of religion too....I feel that I have a brain to think and comprehend what's going on around me, what do i need God or religion for?

I understand your reasoning because I too have issues with religion. But Intelligent design is 'a given' to me. The Universe and the world are too vast and beautiful too have occurred by happenstance.

I am a Christian and I love everyone, including you even if you are an intolerant atheist.

Me too! Christians claim to be so loving and peaceful but they want to destroy all other beliefs and science and want to run the world on their religion. They are America's Taliban that's for sure.

Sure, I'm willing to confess.

Amongst many other things:-
I'm intolerant of women not being treated as equal to men.
I'm intolerant of the banning of contraception.
I'm intolerant of the lack of rights for gay people.

Are you intolerant of science? That is where Intelligent Design came from, not from the Creationist. It was Albert Einstein idea.
