Your father needs to take responsibility. Tell him its important to you as you have plans for him. Such as giving you away at your wedding, being there when you have his grandchildren, etc. Your father needs to test his blood sugar each day with a finger stick and if his sugar is too low, or high, then he is not to drive the car. Also, have him keep glucogen in the glove compartment in the car in case he has an episode and needs it. (most diabetics can drive without a problem as they usually know ahead of time , and in plenty time, to pull over if they don't feel well. It's not like epilepsy.) Again...the best way to deal with it is to educate yourself regarding diabetes (the do's and don'ts) and to help your father and talk with him. (Men are stubborn. They don't deal well with medical conditions...especially their own.) Just keep talking and he will let it sink in at some point. I am sure of it. Take care sweetie...what a wonderful daughter you are!

some people can't get their sugar regulated. If he drinks though, that will drop it down. Most people think that alcohol turns to sugar, but the body reacts to alcohol by rushing sugar out of the blood.

go with him to his Dr and tell him you would like to learn what to do when his sugar drops .also keep some candy in the car when this happens and mostly you stay on his *** because he could cause a wreck and really hurt him self or others

You need to just have patience with your father, and make sure that he doesn't drive to often. So he doesn't get into a car accident. I lost my father a few years ago he died from diabetes, you need to just enjoy him while you still have your father. Just forgive him, and tell him not to drive to often. Because when he's gone your going to feel bad because you where mad at him.
