I need some that are easy enought to build, but look athuntic. They do not need to fly and preferably reasonably small. Any ideas?

a Hobby Shop specializing in plastic kits should have what you need, if not, they should be able to order it for you. The most common scales for WW.1 Aircraft are 1/72nd & 1/48th. The 1/48th scale are larger, have better detail, but usually a little more expensive and more complex. Many 'on-line' Hobby Shops also carry such models, just click YAHOO search web, you can also search for any particular Aircraft your looking for too.

Try american hobby center (on internet) they have sold these kits for many years!

You might also check on ebay, under Model airplanes (they have flying and non flyig ones come up occasionally) sometimes you can get 20-30 year old kits for a good price! (they are a little better stuff than nowdays)!

If you are looking for real fling airplanes (that you can ride in), - buy "Kitplane" magazine, -study the stuff available for a while (so you get something that you really can handle- & still afford). Before you start to build one,- join the Experimental Aircraft Asscociation, - (EAA). "Chapters" are just about everywhere, - you will be able to get "hands on experience", and talk with other builders to see what is going on and how it is done! Just go to your local airport (where the "small planes" fly), - and ask around, - they will tell you where to find one!

Also go to the annual EAA convention at Green bay Wisconsin, -
(at least once). There you will see just about every kind of airplane ever built! All the way friom the curtiss "flyer" up to date! Be prepared to spend more than one day if possible!!

Well, you can go into the Lafayette Escadrille web site, they fly home built replica scale AC from WW!, Nieuport 17-23. They are, I think 7/8th scale. Not to expensive, and fairly simple to build. From what I have seen, they can be broken down and towed behind a car! I believe there are several other WW1
replica plans available on line. Each would have various levels of skill required to build and fly. Search the web is your best bet. Remember the COST of the project is your guiding force, the closer you get to an original flying WW1 AC the more expensive it gets!, good luck

I found revell and monogram 1/72 scale planes go together quite well the other excellent company is Heller which hasn't failed me yet. i have built over 600+ models and like you I don't need the hassle of misfitting parts. Though WW1 planes aren't my specialty I have built the neuport 17,Sopwith camel and several bi-planes from the 1920's and 30's. most are either Heller or revell. These went together quite well and are fairly rugged once built. I hope you have good luck in building your planes. These kits are available at your local hobby store and if they don't have them on hand they will order them for you you could also order them on-line from various hobby sites just search revel model planes and a bunch of sites will pop up.

This website has many many models and kits. Fokker Tri plane, etc. I used to build all of the WWI aircraft models. I took phonograph needles from the old wind up phono's and make little machine gun belts from them. I used sequens (Womens dress stuff} and made little head sets. My favorit plane was the Spad SE5 experimental it was even better than the Fokker D7 also one of my favorites.
The website is below this line, if it is hidden just run your cursor over it an click on it.
