I learned this from The Simpsons : "prayer, the last refuge of a scoundrel."

Most people act out of fear rather than faith.

arunmadav2013, "Why is it that a human will pray to god and love him only when he is suffering a dificulty and needs help?" Because they are immature in their faith. They lean on Him only whene they think they need to. Not when the good times come around. It's just growth that the person needs to learn. And for Christianity it's hearing the Word of God that brings trust and the relationship that we are to have with God. ". . . is it not ridiculous people do this?" Perhaps ridiculous. But better to focus on God throughout the time spent on Earth, yes?

unfortunately you are right, most people take for granted the power of god when things are going smooth and they are not at all thank full, probably because they fall back into the worldliest ways and forget real easily that they are not in control that God is still in control, then along comes disaster again and wham he or she is right back where they were before. It's a shame once people realize what god has done for them that they don't listen to the convictions that the holy spirit puts in their heart and continue to praise the lord for all our blessings and be grate full for his grace and even thank him for the situations we are facing because in the long run it will all work out for a perfect purpose and reason. thanks fellow brothers and sisters for your faith.

This is not ridiculous. It is human nature to go to God in times of need.
Example---
Remember as a kid you would be outside playing with friends and having a great time. Did you think about going in and hanging out with mom?
Probably not.
You were engrossed with being outside and having a good time with whatever.
Did the thought of mom leave you?
Probably not, you knew she was there.
When you needed something only mom could give, did you go to her ask?
Of course.
God puts us in the world to be with His creation and while interacting, we can have Him on our minds, and especially in our outward actions.
Love Everyone.
It is a good thing.
Hard to do, but we keep trying.
May the Holy Spirit guide us daily to keep God in our hearts and our neighbor in our thoughts.

Ridiculous? Yes and no.

I believe that God uses adversity to get our attention and turn our hearts toward Him. It is human nature to try to do things without outside help, but He wants us to turn to Him.

But you are right, many people only use God like a rabbit's foot in their pocket. He is their "good luck charm" so to speak. He wants to be our father, not our lucky charm.
