January 1, 2007 as long as you have pay stubs showing your income and taxes, receipts showing anything else pertinent to your return and the proper income tax forms. You DON'T have to wait for your employer to send you your W2s each year to file. I know, because I've filed early January three separate years. :)
You can usually go to irs.gov to print out forms, but sometimes they're not made available until later in January.

Hello msepps. Your best bet is to file as soon as your employer provides your W-2 forms which shows your 2006 income, federal and state withholding amounts, etc.

Your employer MUST give these to you on or before January 31st, so I would say February 1st would be the best, earliest date to file.

As soon as you get your W-2...employers have to have it in your possession no later than the last day of Jan.
