Sometimes when I am upstairs and hubby is down I want to get him to pick up phone to ask a question, etc. Is it possible for me to somehow dial my own phone number and then hurry and hang up and it ring? There used to be a way to do that years ago...and not sure if poss now?

The old anolog phones used to it...but even now the old anolog phones wont do it because it's all digital...it used to be all switchboarding and routing.
But it was pretty cool back in the day....great for a joke now and then.

When I was little and we had party lines in the neighborhood, we could dial 80962 and hang up. The phone would ring and then the neighbor or us could pick it up. Anymore the operator could do it but will only in the even of an emergency. What you can do is get a monitor/three way speaker system for about $40.00. You can push a call button and the other side rings.

Good luck!!

No, but some types of dual-handest cordless phones have the option to page and talk with the other handset without using the phone line.
