for catholics..?

what does it mean to choose a name or whatever? i still hav to make my communion, tho, cuz ive only been in ccd for about 2 years and im makin my communion in march or whateva...but what do they mean by that and what do u have to do? im just curious.

well im catholic and ive had my communion and you choose a name that relates to a saint like if you like animals (if youre a boy which youre not) you'd choose saint anthony if you like to give to the poor probably saint elizabeth and so on and so forth so i hope this helps ya hun! god bless!

If you are making your first communion then you will receive two years of simple instructions and then make your first confession and first communion. There is no taking of a name.

When you get to the next stage... the sacrament of confirmation, then you will be able to choose a name. The name you will choose will be that of a saint whom you would like to emulate during your life. You will do some studying about saints and identify one that you like and choose that name. It really doesn't change you legal or given name, it is only for your confirmation.

Catholics typically choose the name of a patron saint when the receive the sacrament of confirmation ... not communion.

Keep going to those CCD classes!

Start by looking over the list of saint names and find one that you like, then read about them.

You choose a name at confirmation, over and above what you were baptized with.
