I don't know what that book says but the Bible says that Satan was proud of his beauty and wanted to be exalted like God.
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

Lucifer is the poetical translation of Helel which means morning star in Hebrew and Canaanite. Helel was a Canaanite god, the son of the god of dawn who was cast into the underworld for trying to get on to the sacred mountain to join the senior Canaanite gods like El, Yehu and Baal. Isaiah, being familiar with Canaanite myths uses it in the same way as European poets and writers use Greek and Roman myths as an analogy, because he knows his audience are familiar with and will understand them. Isaiah used Helel to show the downfall of the king of Babylon not Satan. It states in very clearly at the beginning of the verse. Satan never was, nor will be Lucifer unless you totally ignore the literal meaning of Isaiah and use extreme semantic acrobatics to impose your own meaning. The reason people do this is because the bible never describes Satan as a fallen angel or demon, just the adversary of humanity. Edit: i see they're quoting Isaiah out of context again. here's the relevant section that says precisely what it is about. 3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy travail, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service wherein thou wast made to serve, 4 that thou shalt take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say: How hath the oppressor ceased! the exactress of gold ceased! See it explicitly says the king of Babylon, not Satan. Isaiah 14:12-15 just restates the Canaanite story.

He was a top angel,he got so full of himself,he thought he could take over God's throne,he covinced 1/3 of the angels to follow him.He got his butt handed to him,and he hit the earth. He sort of ruled the earth for a while and then God made Adam,so he tricked Adam out of authority over the earth (That's why he's called the ruler of this world the prince of the power of the air)He still goes up into heaven to "rag" on mankind(see Job I and Zecahriah 3) He will try once more a coup on God and Michael will kick him out for good .he hits the earth and we have the Great Tribulation. After 7 yrs.he's locked up for 1000 yrs, after that he tries one more time and is thrown into the Lake of Fire for good.
See Isaiah 14:12-17 and Ezekial 28:12-17,these guys were talking about something else when they saw the power behind the guy they were talking about, sort of a trance thing. Also read Rev.20 all of it.Good luck.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

The angel now known as Satan was put in charge in the garden of Eden but he became envious of the position that God was soon to take with regard to the soon to be multitudes of mankind. His selfish desire grew to be out of control and caused him to sin by slandering God. God had told Adam and Eve that if they ate from the one tree (the tree of the knowledge of good and bad) that belonged only to God, they would surely die. Satan told Eve that not only would she not die, she would actually be able to rule themselves because they would have the knowlege that belonged to God. He led her to believe that God was purposely withholding something good and beneficial from her. Because she was thoroughly deceived by his lie and ate from this tree (no indication in the Bible that it was an Apple), and then, gave some to her husband and he also ate (He was NOT deceived), they were then cut off from the tree of life and thrown out of the garden. Immediately, God made a provision to rescue their offspring from the inevitable sin and death that would follow (because like produces like and sinful people could only produce sinful offspring). This, however, would take time, so the approximately 7,000 years that have followed their disobedience have been cursed by the results of their actions. Soon, however, God will place the seed of his heavenly organization (Jesus Christ) in a position to eliminate the sin which all men have inherited from Adam and Eve. Satan has already been cast down to the earth and is no longer able to go back and forth from earth to heaven. Soon he will spend 1,000 years in the pit after which time he will be let loose for a short time and then eliminated permanantly. Feel free to e-mail me and ask more about the Bible. Unfortunately I am not familiar with Paradise Lost so I cannot tie the two together.

The way I always learned it, Lucifer was the most beautiful of the angels. Then he became very prideful and thought he was as good as or better than the lord himself, so he tried to take his place in heaven. The lord kicked him out of heaven along with 1/3 of the angels who were also prideful.

Lucifer was supposed to be one of God's favorite angels, until he wanted to rule heaven. Lucifer became greedy and wanted to be "God" and wanted to rule heaven. I think he did some bad things in the process so God threw him out of heaven and he went as far down as you could go. Therefore he did become somewhat of a god. He became the god of hell, which then made him Satan.

Lucifer was a very close Angel to God, perhaps God tested Him, God knew Lucifer want some power, so God gave Lucifer some of his glory. Lucifer truly couldn't handle the power of God, it went to his head. Lucifer want to, or try to over power God, of course lost and was thrown out of heaven, with one third of the bad thinking Angels.

The Holy Books of God are not to be understood literally, materially, physicially, superficially. They are to be understood spiritually, symbolically--on a much deeper level.
If you were to explain the ego to a child, you might tell a story about an angel who fell out of heaven and became Satan.
Mankind, just as an individual, evolves from infancy to childhood, to adolescence to maturity. When mankind, collectively was a child, he was told parables that a child might understand. Now he has evolved, intellectually, to the point that he stands at the threshhold of the maturity of mankind. Now, he can understand the selfish ego. The, "it's all about me!" The parables of the Manifestations of the past can now be understood.
Satan is the symbol for our own egos. That which puts ourselves before anyone else.
Therefore, the Lucifer/Satan story is just a fairy tale; but, with a very important meaning, if you can understand the symbology.
In brief, the nations of the world are becoming united under the sovereignty of the divine Kingdom. The East and the West are embracing here in love and affection today. This is not a commercial or political unity, but unity through the love of God. We have crossed the sea to spread that love in America, to announce the call of the Kingdom, to establish the spiritual foundations of international peace. Although men may arise against the Kingdom, the dominion and sovereignty of God will be set up. It is an eternal Kingdom, a divine sovereignty. In His day Christ was called Satan, Beelzebub, but hear the bells now ringing for Him! He was the Word of God and not Satan. They mocked Him, led Him through the city upon a donkey, crowned Him with thorns, spat upon His blessed face and crucified Him, but He is now with God and in God because He was the Word and not Satan. Fifty years ago no one would touch the Christian Bible in Persia. Bahá’u’lláh came and asked, “Why?” They said, “It is not the Word of God.” He said, “You must read it with understanding of its meanings, not as those who merely recite its words.” Now Bahá’ís all over the East read the Bible and understand its spiritual teaching. Bahá’u’lláh spread the Cause of Christ and opened the book of the Christians and Jews. He removed the barriers of names. He proved that all the divine Prophets taught the same reality and that to deny One is to deny the Others, for all are in perfect oneness with God.
All the Prophets of God, including Jesus Christ, appeared in the world for the education of humanity, to develop immature souls into maturity, to transform the ignorant of mankind into the knowing, thereby establishing love and unity through divine education and training. The Prophets have not come to cause discord and enmity. For God has wished all good for His servants, and he who wishes the servants of God evil is against God; he has not obeyed the will and emulated the example of God; he has followed Satanic leadings and footprints. The attributes of God are love and mercy; the attribute of Satan is hate. Therefore, he who is merciful and kind to his fellowmen is manifesting the divine attribute, and he who is hating and hostile toward a fellow creature is satanic. God is absolute love, even as Jesus Christ has declared, and Satan is utter hatred. Wherever love is witnessed, know that there is a manifestation of God’s mercy; whenever you meet hatred and enmity, know that these are the evidences and attributes of Satan. The Prophets have appeared in this world with the mission that human souls may become the expressions of the Merciful, that they may be educated and developed, attain to love and amity and establish peace and agreement.
I shall ask you a question: Did God create us for love or for enmity? Did He create us for peace or discord? Surely He has created us for love; therefore, we should live in accordance with His will. Do not listen to anything that is prejudiced, for self-interest prompts men to be prejudiced. They are thoughtful only of their own will and purposes. They live and move in darkness. Consider how many different nations and divergent religious beliefs existed when Christ appeared. Enmity and strife prevailed among them—Romans, Greeks, Assyrians, Egyptians—all warring and hostile toward each other. Christ, through the breaths of the Holy Spirit, united them, established fellowship among them so that no trace of strife remained. Under His standard they became united and lived in peace through His teachings. Which is preferable and more commendable? To follow the example of Jesus Christ or to manifest the satanic instinct? Let us strive with all our powers to unite the East and West so that the nations of the world may be advanced and that all may live according to the one foundation of the religions of God. The essentials of the divine religion are one reality, indivisible and not multiple. It is one. And when through investigation we find it to be single, we have a basis for the oneness of the world of humanity. I will pray for you, asking confirmation and assistance in your behalf.

Yes. Read the Bible. He, as in the last question I answered, questioned God's authority & was banned to hell where he still rules (if you believe the stories) So....in both questions, don't question....just swallow all the stories as truth. That's the "moral"
