You probably mean Alberta. Its a province and its right above Montana and between the provinces of British Columbia (west) and Saskatchewan (east). To the north is the Northwest Territories (also part of Canada but almost not even populated). Tons of minerals and resources though. Canada will rule the world on resources one day... if we don't get bought up or invaded in the process.
