ok so your opinon of a shithole is ,mexico how sad! Just because its not the spoiled nation that america is....it may b easy for you to say something like that... but if you were truly smart you wouldnt need a 16 yr old to explain to you the difficulty of increasing the economy in a nation. The country cant live off of workers, there are a lot of underpaid workers who come over here to earn more. Not only that but corruption also plays a part in this.....just like america and every other nation corruption in plolitics and gov't limits many families and deprives some from decent wages and benefits . Rome wasn't built in a day..you can't build up a country so quickly....give it some time! Besides there are cities in Mexico that are doing well in the job force and economy wise....it won't be the same everywhere geographically speaknig.

There is not one "single" answer to this question. The biggest problem facing the working class in Mexico, especially farmers, is the same as that which is effecting middle to lower income workers around the world. Mainly, globalization of economies. My former employer moved my company to Mexico and China to take advantage of cheaper labor. With the income earned by those in the third world demand for consumer goods increases. Unfortunately the wealth is not shared equally by all, nor access to higher living standards. So, since we aren't going to the developing countries fast enough, their populations are coming to us. Now, if you're a white anglo-saxon and your neighbors seem to be getting darker you may begin to feel a bit uneasy. But if you're latino you probably think it's great. We anglos have had a nice long run in power in this country, but nothing lasts forever, as the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Huns, etc. found out. So, our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will look somewhat different than we look like now. But, is that necessarily a bad thing? This old world is always going through changes and reinventing itself. And we anglos, as well as we humans, will simply have to adapt. So, make a friend of a Mexican or Peurto Rican, or whoever, and get on with life. As far as the illegal bit. So they come here and work. Get over it. Let these poor people try to improve their lives.
The reason Mexico isn't as prosperous as the U.S? It's all about economics and has absolutely nothing to do with the work ethic of the general population.

Because the pay sucks and all the so called money the US sends to aid Mexico is kept by the government, not distributed to the people!! They work just as hard there however, the pay is much less. What they make here in a day can take weeks to make there. How do you build up a country where if you speak up against your own country you can be tortured or punished?! Answer that!!

Because the government of mexico is the problem. It is corrupt. It doesn't want to use mexican workers. It brings in outside workers from Guatemala for many of the jobs. They are cheaper and the governments claims "harder workers" then the local mexicans.
So the poor mexicans have no choice. They can't get any work and the only choice is to continue to make an honest living in mexico (which is not possible), become a drug dealer, or come to the land of opportunity where so many of their ancestors have fulfilled their dreams.

Actually, they are building it up individually. They are sending their hard-earned money back home to support their family they left behind. I know, I'm from the Philippines, our people are the Mexicans around the world, ie...Saudi, Libya, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and to name a few, because we get hired for a lower paying job (engineers, nurses, nannies) that their own people wont do. The money earned is then wired to their loved ones back home where they build a new house and send their kids to school and of course, feed their mouths. The money earned overseas usually doubled, not less than for the same job back home. So basically separation from family is a big sacrifice we have to endure to keep the family well-fed and taken care of. By the way, don't we have people here working in Iraq for the "greener pasteurs" it provides?

It seems that you may need to borrow some of the "smarty pants" from the "pro illegals", whatever those are. Well, if you did a little research you'd find that the vast majority that come here illegally were (past tense; why? because the majority of illegals from Mexico came 15-20 years ago) from very poor places. How do you purpose that dirt poor people just scraping by with the basics begin to "build up" their country? Hmmm? It is the government that does that job, not the poor masses just trying to survive day to day. I suggest you educate yourself on what poverty does to people, countries and the world.

let see. lack of jobs, opportunities, etc. Most of them are actually unemployed in their countries so they come to the US. Heh just accept the fact they are here, and they help the US economy, and unfortunately for u, US is in no way predominately caucasian, its in fact a melting pot of different cultures, and its growing with every year, if u want all the mexicans out, then just move to germany or something where there are few mexicans and everyone is white like you =D, hey maybe u can join the Nazi party while ur at it.

If a country is a mess, it's usually not the public's fault. It can be caused by anything, war, famine, bad government, bad luck even. The immigrants wanted a better life that might never exist in their home country, so they decided to come to America. It's actually a smart move.
Immigrants aren't bothering you, so leave them alone.

Mexico's problems are so systemic and so ingrained in their culture as to be permanently attached to the psyche of the people.

Alot of them claim that the U.S. pays better. Though, i am Hispanic, I was wondering why they protest here instead of their homeland but I still haven't found the answer. But think about this..... if your family lived in poverty or at least close to it wouldn't you try to do anything to help them?
