YES! It is true that God WANTS everyone saved. It is your choice.
Calvin denied this verse in his theology with "unconditional election," "limited atonement" and "irresistible grace."

The translation you're using is a little confusing. Mine says:
"whose will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth."
This means that God wills that everyone be saved. This doesn't mean it will happen though, since people have free will and many are choosing a path that will not lead to salvation. The world-wide preaching work of Jehovah's Witnesses is a physical evidence of God's will for people to be saved. No other religion in the world is more associated with actively spreading the Bible message. We are in over 230 lands, and teach people in over 400 languages.

Yes, of course it's true, and I think it's rendered accurately. God "would have" all men to be saved, which means an outward call, rather than a "wanting" everyone to come to him. There seems to be a tone of God being in charge in that verse, not humbly begging man to accept him. It doesn't mean that all will be saved, and it doesn't imply any eternal separation, except for the reprobates that were never chosen.

Uhhhh, I'm having problems with the idea 1Tim 2:4 as a "stand alone" concept. Since you're using the verse from the NIV Bible, if I might....
1 Tim 2
vs 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone------
vs 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
vs 3 This is good, and pleases God our savior,
vs 4 who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.
vs 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
vs 6 who gave himself a ransom for all men--the testimony given in it's proper time.
vs 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I'm an telling the truth, I am not lying -- and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
vs 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.
the man who wrote that, Paul, spent a lot of years in prison before being executed for statements just like that.
And that is a historical fact easily researched...if you desire to know the truth.
If not, can you tell me why he would spend years in a cesspool of a prison that would make a Tijuana jail look like paradise and then die rather then changing his story??
Oh, a little history on him. He was a Jew (the people who crucified Jesus.) His family "tree" was so pure they might be compared to the Kennedy's in social stature. He attended the best schools and was a rising star amoung the society. He even hunted down Christians for them. Many of those Christians were killed.
Then one day he met Jesus (after Jesus was crucified) and was never the same. In the end, suffering in prison for years before being executed.
I don't know about you, but when I honestly think about being stoned or hung...that rock hitting my face...I would be tempted to deny my son was who he is.
Maybe it's just me??

You have a faulty translation.
3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth -1 Timothy 2:4
God may love the world, God may not want people to reject him and perish, but theyre going to do it anyway!

I believe 1 Tim 2:4 reveals to us God's will regarding all men.
God does not force his free gift upon us, but offers it to us by faith "For by grace are you saved through faith, that not of yourselves it is a gift of God; not of works lest any should boast" Ephesians 2:8
John 3:16 summerzies God's salvation "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"
In this verse we are told God's love in that he gave his Son to the death of the cross for lost sinners. Eternal life is given to the "whosoever believeth" the believer is given eternal life and is moved from the lost sinner's place of condemnation into everlasting life.
To answer your questions:
1. No it does not mean that all will be saved.
2. We must continue to believe in eternal separation from God for the person who refuses God's free gift of salvation in Christ.

No the verse does not say all will be saved.
It means that Gods will is that all men be saved.
He wishes that for all his creations but ultimately that chose is up to us to accept the redemptive passion of Christ

No sir, this means that God ( Jesus ) made a way for all men to know God, by his death, and made a way for life when he came out of the grave. Acts 2:38 is the key.

You need to stick to the context of that scripture- it is speaking to Believers- and referring to the ones who "will be" saved...as we who are saved are waiting for the Lord to come back- we are also waiting for that last gentile to be "grafted in" as it says in Romans- and then the Lord will come back. Also look at the greek and hebrew text of "all"
Not all will be saved.
Matthew 22:14
For many are called, but few are chosen."

Your question actually had me look this up. He says that we should pray for everyone....the kings (Bush) & all others in authority (the gov't) that we may live in peace This is good & pleases God, who wants everyone to be saved . Don't just read part of it.
