I get plenty of sleep, its just that sometimes i stay up all night, on the
pc. And go to bed at different times anywhere from 9 pm to 8 oclock
in the morning. I also take a little medication for depression and anxiety. I also oversleep a little to much. And once and a while i will
stay up for two days without sleep. What is my problem, or do i even have a problem to worry about?

I'm a RN who has taught Nursing for over 20 years. The fact that you are asking this question tells me that you have a personal concern regarding your inconsistent sleeping pattern. As a RN, I am also concerned . What concerns me most is your statements, "I also take a little medication for depression and anxiety. I also oversleep a little to(o) much. And once and a while I will stay up for two days without sleep." I specialized in Mental Health Nursing and wish you had shared some of the specific details regarding your signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety; information about your medication's name, dosage, length of time on it, etc.; what measures you have taken to have a regular bedtime and to settle for sleep; and whether you are being supervised by a psychiatist. At any rate, it is my professional opinion that you need to be reassessed by a psychiatrist to determine how your present levels of medication are working for you and whether there might be any changes in your diagnosis. Staying up for two days without sleep "once in a while" makes me wonder if you are now experiencing Bipolar Disease and only a psychiatrist can diagnose this and place you on the correct medication which is different than for Depression and Anxiety. It is in your best interest and health to follow through with my professional suggestion as soon as possible. Sleep is a significant component of our health and many chemical functions take place in our brains during night time sleep. When a night time sleeping pattern is so dysfunctional, the daily performance of the brain frequently becomes dysfunctional also. As a result it becomes almost impossible to function properly at work or school. You deserve for yourself to become the successful person you were meant to be and the choices you make for yourself now may affect you either positively or negatively for the rest of your life. Good luck to you and God bless. Feel free to show my response to your psychiatrist as it may be a good way to open up dialogue between the two of you regarding the purpose of your visit.

I am a lifetime insomniac. I now have a CPAP, a machine to help you breathe better at night and it helps some. Lately, my pproblem has been more of sleeping too much, rather than not sleeping enough. I think maybe mine is due to depression tho. I am also on the computer sometimes in the middle of the night. Sometimes I think it is my best friend.

start using a sleeping med like trazidone or even an over the counter med like tylenol pm. set an alarm for around 8 (or how ever many hours of sleep is good for you) hours so you wake up w'out a headache. i'm the same way. and get away from the computer. it would help. i do it too.

Studies HAVE shown it is more important to get consistent sleep than it is to get eight hourse of sleep per day.

It sounds to me like you have an anxiety disorder which is keeping you awake.
