Install the software which comes with the cam, before plugging the cam into the usb port

depends on the platform, and the type of webcam.
with windows xp. just plug it in your USB. all files should already be fixed with all the drivers needed on xp.
On windows 98 you must put in a disk, if you don't have one, you need to download drivers for that particular webcam from the Internet.

buy one at the store, something like Best Buy or Comp USA, then you can buy a webcam and inside of it there should be an instillation disk
