what is a civilized man? is he a cultured man? or is he a sophisticated man? or is he just a man?
well let me tell you something i learned at university, a man is a man, regardless. you can find people who don't mind having a 'diffrenet' neighbor, and others who do, and you may never understand their logic, but when it comes to religion its a totally different story.
when everything around us, as human beings is unstable and insecure, or when your going through terrible times of weakness and trouble, humans usually, if not all the time resort to the only set and safe and stable and known thing, that they know will never decieve them and will always have the answer for them. the only thing that has such charactristics is religion. so when another man, with different belives, or with different views into certain matters makes a statment, or draws a cartoon or sings a song, or even write a book that might, for any reason rock the stable boat of religion people turn aggressive, and they tend to give a violent reaction, not only to express their anger, but to tell themselves that i have done what it takes and protected my sacred believe.
i am sorry its a long answer, but i have to admit its an amazing question, and i have asked it many times, and i deeply believe that our strength ( muslim, christian or jew) lays only in makng use of our religions, i swear to god the books have the answer to many things, many ethical and moral and even modern problems that face us as humans and we never find the solution for, it just has to be based on a heart felt beliefe that my answer lies in there. instead of marching into the streets and burnning books and flags and so on and so forth, start a communication channel, tell people who we are and what we do and how we do it, and acceptance of the other. that should be the only way we can survive a religious down fall...
hope i didn't bore you and u find your answer

I love it when people claim "more blood has been shed" by religion than anything else. What a moronic statement. I wonder what religion fought WWI, WWII, Vietnam, The American Revolution, The American Civil War, The War of 1812, The Spanish-American War. Maybe I'm just a moron when it comes to history but I can only think of a couple examples of religious warfare but I can think of tons of secular wars.
By the way, I refuse to defend my beliefs.

Jesus said, "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first " ( John 15:18). Our Lord was ridiculed, insulted, persecuted, and eventually killed. In the face of opposition, He went about " doing good ". Even His enemies could find no fault with Him. He became the greatest teacher of moral values the world has ever known, but after three years of public ministry He was executed as a criminal.
In the earlier part of His ministry, great crowds followed Him, however, the moment He started telling His followers that they must take up their crosses, " many...no longer followed Him " ( John 6:66).
To be a disciple of Jesus means to learn from Him, to follow Him. The marks of the cross are not to be confused with self-inflected austerity or the rigors of the Middle ages brought up to date. We should not intentionally seek suffering with the mistaken idea that we might earn special merit with God. Self-denial is not necessarily a virture.
Christ admonished His followers: " When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting " (Matthew 6:16). This is a clear warning not to boast of trials we have brought upon ourselves.
Bearing our crosses does not mean wearing gunny sacks and long faces. Some people imagine that every single headache is part of their cross. They wear the look of a martyr every time they hear criticism. Sometimes we deserve the criticism we receive; however, we are blessed only when men speak evil against us falsely for Christ's sake.
Christians should be a foreign influence, a minority group in a pagan world. We are the " light of this world ", and light exposes evil. We are the " salt of this world ", and it adds flavor. If we are at peace with this world, it may be because we have sold out to it and compromised with it.
Sometimes instead of helping the lost, we hinder them. We may hurt others deliberately or inadvertently. Some churches are accused of " shooting their wounded ". We flourish with kindness and shrivel with unkindness.
Some Christians are deliberately unkind, but some do not realize the effect they may have by the look on their faces or the tone of their voices. Many do not realize that the nicest thing we can do for Christ is to be kind to one of His children. We add to the hurt when we are critical of one of His children. Criticisim has a withering effect upon people. Constant criticism will destroy their spirit and their ability to succeed.
The Bible teaches us to be more concerned about the needs and feelings of others than our own. We are to encourage and build confidence in others, to hold up, not to put down. A true servant of God is someone who helps another succeed. " Therefore encourage one another and build each other up " ( 1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Someone said, " You can never speak a fine word too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late. "

Wrong...
this is completely a different thing assuming beliefs & civilized men. who is civilized? and what are beliefs? beliefs are that you saw or heard or told so, they are not perticularly your own things. civilized man or human or else, who can be a civilized one if he just sit back to his tip top home & doing nothing for his society, or just watch TV to be updated. now 'religion', this something that may hurts you, bounds you & tells you many things to do but must can you all the things what your 'religion' says.
they are not civilized, who dont know themselves & 'religion' isnt our downfall, our careless activity towards 'religion' is our downfall. and ofcourse it wrong to defend fiercely our beliefs as there's no perticular or real belief among us.

i replace into slipping down the path in the direction of evolutionism when I heard an extremely compelling presentation on the clinical information backing biblical introduction. This led me to an in intensity learn of the subject rely which I nevertheless do actively after almost 10 years. the provision of the information thoroughly replaced my existence for the greater advantageous, and gave me a greater advantageous carry close of actuality and the thank you to technique the worldwide wherein I stay. My thought is to easily save putting the information obtainable, and time to time i will hit a heavily questioning reality-seeker whose existence will even get replaced for the greater advantageous. I understand that that is only a small portion of the inhabitants who can rather think of heavily, so maximum of my efforts meet bigoted resistance of uninformed evolutionist prudes. although, the few that understand the easy while they see it makes each and every of the adaptation for me. The creationist branch of evidential apologetics is maximum mandatory in the direction of unifying the Bible as a stable non-contradictory solid historic e book which could and could be believed. The information restores faith in the e book, and in Jesus Christ who suggested that Adam replace into in the commencing up. as a result, i think a lot of people would be in Heaven who in any different case would not be there if this information wasn't available to restoration/start up their faith in the e book.

No, it is not a proper response. the problem is not"religion",it is peoples ignorance of there own religions that is part of the problem.the rest of the problem is they are not mature enough to control their emotions. If I call you a thief, and you are a thief, why should you get mad,I spoke the truth. on the other hand ,if i call you a thief and it is untrue, why should you get mad,you know it is not the truth. If one has been baptized with spirit, they should have risen above the emotions, into unconditional love,This love which is God himself doeth the work,I am but the witness.

I don't think fiercely defending anything will acomplish the mission. Words are powerless in an argument when fighting while trying to make a point. They only create emotions not solutions

It is for some, lack of it will be the downfall for others. But it does strike me as amusing.. when atheists have so much doubt they have to enter into a religious or spiritual topic to reassure themselves. They have to beat something down they have trouble accepting but, always with that doubt in the back of their mind.

I don't believe in "fiercely defending", but I do state my beliefs. I practice my beliefs. I encourage and educate where I can. It's the radicals of any belief sect that make it all look rotten. And of course, that's who stands out to represent the whole. Makes us all look bad.
Downfall? I don't think so.
