Funny. It is easy to quickly become used to a place, then see it change and not be so attractive anymore. When something held closely, loses color, it is not as beautiful as it once was. And, it can be saddening to see it that way, to feel it draining away. How can one learn to either let go of things past, or to not attach anything to things present....and avoid loss? Is it possible....

the best way i have found to let go of the past is actually not to let it go ... but to accept it and learn from it
did it make you stronger ?
more compassionate ?
more loving ?
i am sure you will find a lesson in whatever happened... then you can thank your past for making you the wonderful person you are today
once you have done that ... the past lets go of itself xxx

Loss can cause people to close off their heart. It hurts, and it can be easier to say to yourself, "I don't want to do that again, so I will distance myself from people so I don't get hurt". But distancing or detaching yourself, while perhaps initially helpful to you, will cause your heart to harden, and slowly make it impossible for you to feel love - not just feel love for someone, but also feel it coming toward you from someone else. You posted this in R & S, so I must tell you that Jesus Christ came to bind up the brokenhearted. That means that, since He was a human, He experienced loss, and therefore knows how to mend your heart. He is waiting to help you, but you have to ask.
Please don't detach yourself - you can be fixed, and end up better than you were.
By the way, Redhot, while well intentioned, is not correct. Picking up several hobbies and finding busy work may seem like a good idea, but it will not completely satisfy you. Only God's "Living Water" can reach every tiny part of your heart and satisfy you. There is nothing at all wrong with choosing to start a new hobby, but your heart needs healing, not distraction.

To Yes man.......................,

Oh I have been in the place you are in and this is known as depression but a deeper feeling is despair.

You are human and God understands some times are much better than others, it is when you are in the hard times when you truly go.

In 2003-2004 I lost hope and I was miserable as my husband can attest. But God understood I was hurt and He knew I felt wronged ( I was unable to have kids and had a heck of a bad time financially).

Lately in the past 2 years coming out of this dark cloud or cycle God keeps putting this verse Jeremiah 29:11 in my path please read it this will help you start to heal, the verse talks about giving you a future and a hope.

Always remember this the glory is in never falling but rising up every time you fall and you will get better and you will heal the very reason you posted this shows signs of hope and recovery.

I was sick for thirteen years; I was diagnosed with severe depressive disorder (recurrent), dysthimac disorder, and general anxiety dissorder. It took four shrinks and three months away from work to get better; I had to learn how to be happy again. I know what you mean about your surroundings no longer being satisfying. When I got better, I was able to better seek out spiritual growth, I was hung up for a long time and everything got filtered through a poor perception of reality. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I can tell you that the otherside of the darkness is truly fantastic. Do whatever you need to do to gat their.

Want to know why? Simply because our interest is not in material things or locations. I know what you are talking about; one moment, something seems new, fun, attracting, the next though, it is dull, boring, and an every-day type of thing. Why? Because:

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

" ...He [God] has also set eternity in the hearts of men..."

Our desires cannot not be completely fulfullled by the things of this world. The luster of wordly things just does not last. We unkowingly have eternity in our hears; we cannot be fully satisfied by things of this world. Only God can truly satisfy; and He has made it easy for men to experience that satisfaction!

Acts 2:21
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

I hope this helps, God bless!

Attachments to physical things are delusions anyway. change the way you are looking at your experiences, Nothing lasts forever, and for some things this is good. Think of FLOW and it will help you understand this life.
Don't dwell in misery that something is gone or changes; be grateful you had the moment, and look forward to the times you have yet to experience.

To accomplish what you desire, you will need to regain control of what you allow your mind to do to you. The need is primarily, to not allow those thoughts to enter... If you don't have to fight them out, you are in much better shape than having to go through that battle each time those depressing thoughts attempt to enter your thought processes. Change your battle plan a bit and prevent rather than confront.

My cat truthfully does. I in simple terms moved 7 hours removed from my domicile city. i replaced into so unhappy and down. yet to be elementary my cat helped me threw it. She consistently replaced into there via my part as quickly as I cried. Or my different cat could in simple terms leap around and make me giggle. It felt like there replaced into somebody to love and be with me threw all of it ( whether it style of feels wierd.) She knew if i replaced into having stable days and undesirable days. If i had a foul day and replaced into crying she could sleep good via my head. My cats are my each thing to me. Even tho they cant communicate lower back I nonetheless sense that they pay attention to me and communicate in there very own little tactics.

if a thing of value becomes more than it is it worth, then its time to get rid of it. Want to see life thru rose color glasses go visit a VA Hospital or a sick unit in the children's ward at your local hospital, your outlook will improve.
