I have a recipie that calls for boneless, skinless chicken. It says to put them in the bottom of the pot, do I have to cut them up or do you think they will just fall apart themselves after cooking all day? Im assuming put them in whole?

You will have to cut them up either way, they won't just fall apart. If you are cooking something that calls for diced chicken cut it after they are done, if not, you can just eat them whole..

If it says to put "boneless, skinless chicken" in the bottom of your slow cooker ... I'm thinking that they will already be cut up. It would be kind of hard to get the bones out without cutting the chicken. If, however, you are going to cook them in the slow cooker to end up with boneless, skinless chicken, it depends on how long you are going to cook it. If it is going to be all day long, I would definitely leave it whole. A cut up chicken will cook a lot faster and you might end up with mush by the time you get home.

What do you mean by 'plain chicken'? The plainest chicken would be roasted in the oven. Slow cookers are more for stewing. I like to brown my chicken first to give it more flavour. Heat 2 tsp oil in a large skillet, mushrooms are optional, add chicken pieces, (skin removed for less fat), heat & turn until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Combine chicken with 1 can chicken broth, 1/4 cup white wine, 3 sliced potatoes, 1 can of northern beans (rinsed & drained), 4 sliced carrots, 8 cloves of garlic (minced), dash of white pepper, in crock-pot/slow-cooker. Cover & cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Add 1 tsp poultry seasoning. Garnish with 1/4 cup snipped parsley.

You can put them in hole because in the slow cooker they will become moist enough that they will just fall apart when it is done. Slow cookers are great use mine a lot and any meat you put in there just becomes so moist that it falls apart when it is done.

no need to cut them up. Just season with salt and pepper cover with water. slow cooking will give you great broth --very good to use in making noodles. chicken cooked this way also is good for making chicken salad.

However you decide to cook them be sure to check the internal temp of the chicken it needs to be 165 degrees.
