Sometimes I feel OCD runs my life. I check, what has been checked, which has been checked.
It's a 15 min. ritual to even get out of the house. The iron which hasn't been used in 2 wks, causes me to have to make sure it is off - have to place my hand on the bottom, then it's the taps, the stove of course, and the front and back doors. The front door is the worst, have to make sure its locked - pushing on the door etc.
I hate having this and upset myself while doing these rituals. I heard that Paxil is a good med for this, but I am on so much psych meds that I don't want to add another. Also, someone suggested therapy, but I think I will pass on that.
I think one reason I do this 'checking', and it sounds bizarre, but I don't want to be the one responsible in case something happens in the house. Maybe I'm off kilter in that thought. All I know is, I am not the only one.

My OCD is about contamination issues.
Some of my rituals are, washing my hands hundreds of times a day, cleaning and cleaning, washing all the items that I buy from the supermarket, long showers, checking and checking, etc, etc, etc.
It's not easy to live with OCD.

Well, I write it off to being a libra but I have a few annoying things. First I totally cannot stand odd numbers of anything, second, I always weigh both sides of every decision totally and then rarely ever give a straight answer unless there is a required "yes" or "no".

I do not have many rituals except things have to be in a certain order and a certian place or it will drive me extremly crazy.
and i must take exactly 2 showers a day at around the same times.
and i always walk in a certain pattern.

Oh wow, what don't I do? Check doors repeatedly, uncoil phone cords that are wierded up, twist my office chair if I turned it all the way around the other way, can't use wire hangers (you could get tetanus, you know!), can't split pills (might be more medicine in one half than the other). The list is endless.
I prefer to think of my idiosyncracies as what makes me interesting....
