it could be out of context but hey, god still kills for fun.
Meanwhile, the LORD instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man, "Strike me!" But the man refused to strike the prophet. Then the prophet told him, "Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me." And sure enough, when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him. (1 Kings 20:35-36 )

ok, so i missed the whole point of the story. so what? how should that man know that the command was from god, when the priest was the one speaking? if he knew it was from god, i bet he would have obeyed.
btw, what did "strike me" mean? i bet it was supposed to mean "kill me"
whatever

although i dont know much of the bible, im not biblically illiterate... you are exagerrating... and will go to hell if you died today.
even your god doesnt deny making evil. that does make him evil... unless you all want to justify your "loving god"'s cruel/stupid actions in the old testament.

It proves the MAN writing in that particular book and the council at Nicaea believed in rhetorical devices to ensure their followers were afraid of consequence when it came between choosing to follow the law or make their own decisions.
Ancient law works the same as law does now...in the form of an "If...Then" scenario i.e. If you are found guilty of treason then you will be sentenced to death.
So it proves that the Semitic people were good at trying to keep their constituents in line. It does not prove anything regarding the evil of the ineffable creative power of the universe...It simply proves that different people at different time use the same tactics to force others with less power and authority to do as they are told...
Sooo. No, God does not kill for fun...people do (even though most of the time it is not for fun, but for power) ...
Thanks for trying, but you still can't make God out to the bad-guy...it is bad-guys that makes this world painful and unpleasant...and they do it out of their own free-will.

No, it only proves that critics of the Bible are most of the time biblically illiterate! You really need to read the passage. It says that one of the prophets spoke to another prophet (and the Bible said that the first spoke under divine authority) to wound him. Why? Because he is sadistic? Nope, because his injury would serve as a sign to the king of Israel later. God wanted to tell the king of Israel a graphic lesson in obedience.

I think this story is even worse! In 2 Kings 2:23-24 God has a bear kill 42 children for teasing a guy for being bald. Wow! Pretty wrathful, huh?

death is not the end of life at all to believers
so if God kills anyway, am sure He has a good reason to
Peace
Edit: Im not even Christian and I can see the reasoning of this verse. It says that this man should have done what the Lord asked him to do no matter what. It was a test of faith. But he didnt do it. So he got what he deserved as the weakness of his faith.

God does not kill for fun. We are to obey the word of God, even if He is asking us to do something that doesn't sound right to us. You shouldn't question God for He knows all things...which is why He is God. Try talking to Him someday and listen for His reply. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
